ABUJA-The Environmental Management Association of Nigeria(EMAN) has expressed its willingness to enter into working relationship with the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency(NOSDRA) in the area of fostering an environmentally friendly oil and gas industry in Nigeria
The National President of EMAN, Architect (Sir) Emmanuel E. Ating, and other executive members of the association made this known when they paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General/Chief Executive of NOSDRA, Sir Peter Idabor, in his office in Abuja on Thursday.
Architect Ating, who used the opportunity to appeal to NOSDRA to help in the implementation of the Environmental Management cadre in the agency, stressed the need for cooperation and partnership between the two bodies in various areas that would be beneficial to the environment sector.
In his response, the Director-General of NOSDRA thanked the executive members of EMAN for their visit, noting that the association and his agency have much to gain in working together.
Sir, Idabor noted that one of the problems militating against NOSDRA in oil spill management in the country was the Act establishing it, which he assured would soon be strengthened by the National Assembly after reviewing it to enable the agency deliver on its mandate.
