US Embassy Rates UBA ‘Best Innovative Bank’
In recognition of its excellent quality of service delivery, the United States Embassy in Lagos has bestowed ‘Best Innovative Partner’ award for 2010/2011 on United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc.
The award, which was presented to the bank at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Lekki, Lagos was in recognition of UBA’s significant contributions to the technical and commercial innovations that has brought about significant improvements recorded by the Networking USA (NUSA) programme over the past five years.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the Consul General of the US Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Stafford said the NUSA online programme which is organised by the Commercial Service (CS) section of the embassy would have remained a dream “without the technical and commercial contributions made by UBA since 2006.
According to him, “the bank committed significant resources to the development of a computer application that seamlessly interfaced with the CS Nigeria’s website which has facilitated payment of NUSA registration fees both online and at designated UBA branches across Nigeria,” adding that this system “facilitated Nigerian company registration and increased the NUSA footprint for CS Lagos”.
While receiving the award on behalf of the bank, Anita Edo-Osagie, Business Manager, Idowu Taylor branch said “the bank has blazed the trail in economic transformation in Nigeria and the continent through the provision of innovative solutions and financial services aimed at spurring and facilitating growth and development”.
