Dana Air in emergency landing at MMIA

A Dana Air aircraft with registration number 5N-SRI made an emergency landing yesterday at about 4:59pm at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport due to loss of hydraulic pressure.
The director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, who confirmed the incident said no life was lost as all the passengers were evacuated and the aircraft towed from Runway 19R.
In a telephone interview with Biztellers, the spokesman of the airline, Mr. Tony Usidamen, said the McDonell Douglas 83 (MD-83) aircraft which had 86 passengers on board was coming from Uyo.
He stated that when the pilot noticed the problem, he called for an emergency landing.
“The aircraft landed safely on Runway 19R. No passenger was injured. They were evacuated safely. Similarly, no damage was done to the aircraft,” he said.
