The Nigerian government has indicated interest to construct a new car park for airport users both at the International wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport and the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Lagos.

Disclosing this development to newsmen in his office at MMIA, Deputy General Manager, Public Affairs, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Victor Arisa said that the management of FAAN was awaiting the approval of a new design of a larger capacity of the car parks.

He further noted that the design of a new car park was part of the Federal Government’s remodelling exercise taking place at the various airports across the country.

“FAAN management is worried and was not unaware of the over stressed parks. We have come up with a new design of a new car park”

“We are awaiting the approval from the Ministry of Aviation to carry out a new construction and expansion that will have a larger capacity of parking,’’ he said.

Commenting on security at the airport, he said”We have never heard of car theft in our car parks and travellers often park their cars overnight , even for days to travel and come back to pick the car at the park,’’ he said.

According to him, “the airport has a structure for cars to be park overnight and for days which enables travellers making use of the special arrangement pay more than those parking on hourly bases”
