Airtel strikes bank deals in Kenya, Nigeria
NAIROBI – Airtel, Kenya’s second largest mobile operator, has agreed a partnership with the country’s Equity Bank so those bank customers who are also the operator’s subscribers can access the Airtel Money service.
Separately, Airtel Nigeria has signed an MoU with First Bank Nigeria which means the bank can offer its Firstmonie Talkmore service to the operator’s subscribers, according to IT News Africa.
Among the services available via Airtel’s Kenya deal are so-called agency cash transactions at Equity Bank branches as well as the ability to withdraw cash from the bank’s branches.
In addition, Airtel subscribers will be able to pay utility bills, receive bank transaction alerts, check their account balance and receive mini statements.
