Alleged Assault: UK Parliament Invites Will Smith Over Slap Saga At Oscar 2022

American Actor, Will Smith on Monday has been invited by the member of United Kingdom (UK) Parliament to speak on comedian Chris Rock’s slap.
Recall that Will Smith surprised comedian Chris Rock with a strong punch at the 2022 Academy Awards for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Smith’s wife has a bald head, and Rock joked that she looked like she was in GI Jane 2. Smith stormed the stage and slapped Rock in response to the remark. Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has been outspoken about her alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.
However, the video has gone viral, eliciting diverse emotions from netizens, with some expressing displeasure with Will Smith’s attitude and others expressing opposing viewpoints.

Conservative MP, Dehenna Davison, wrote Smith a letter chastising him for the slap and asking him to speak to the All Party Parliamentary Group on One Punch Assaults, which raises awareness about how one punch may kill someone.
It was reported that Davison’s father died as the result of a single punch.
“While I found Rock’s joke in the poorest taste, I was very disappointed to see you use your substantial platform not for good, but for the promotion of violence.
“I too have a deep desire to defend a loved one. When I was thirteen, my father was killed by a single blow to the head. My life was turned upside down, and it was this that led to me getting involved in politics.” Davison said.
The invitation, according to Davison, was intended to educate Smith about how deadly a single punch can be by hearing to testimony from those who had also lost someone to a single hit.
Smith received his first Academy Award on Sunday night, after decades in the entertainment world. He has previously been nominated for the award on several occasions.
Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa has been signed up by Jaiz Bank as a brand ambassador.

A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in significant damage to six vehicles, according to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command.
The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024.
He explained that a loud explosion alerted police operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the site, supported by military personnel.

“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” Sadiq-Aliyu stated. The joint team acted swiftly, deploying measures to protect lives and limit property damage. Their efforts successfully extinguished the fire.
The spokesperson added, “Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”
State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as investigations progress.
This incident highlights the need for heightened safety measures at gas filling stations to prevent such occurrences.
