Sales, Efficiencies Drive NAHCO’s PBT to N3.8bn

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has announced a profit before tax of N3.84 billion for 2022, a remarkable increase of 315.14 percent from N924.86 million recorded in 2021.

 

This was contained in a statement released to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, obtained by Biztellers, in which the company attributed the performance to strong sales income and business-wide efficiency.

 

Biztellers reports that NAHCO has recommended dividend payouts of N2.34bn to shareholders for the accounting period, up from N665.93m paid out in the corresponding period of 2021. This year’s dividend is remarkable 251 percent higher than the previous year’s.

 

According to the statement, “Shareholders on the register of the company as of the close of business on May 12, 2023, will receive a dividend per share of N1.20 for the 2022 business year. The dividend will become payable on May 26, 2023.”

 

The annual returns for the year ended December 31, 2022, filed at the NGX revealed that group turnover rose by 63.3 percent from N10.23bn in 2021 to N16.71bn in 2022.

 

In the same vein, gross profit doubled by 125.81 percent from N3.34bn to N7.55bn, while operating profit rose by 274.2 percent from N1.05bn to N3.94bn.

 

Also, net profit increased by 246.4 percent from N771.62m to N2.67bn for the 2021 and 2022 accounting periods respectively.

 

Earnings per share also rose by 257.89 percent from 38 kobo to N1.36.

 

The statement averred that the group’s performance was underlined by significant improvements across the businesses, driven mainly by the group’s flagship handling business.

 

According to the Group Managing Director, NAHCO Plc, Indranil Gupta, the 2022 results reflects the gains of recent investments and continuous improvements in the operations of the aviation handling group.

Gas Explosion in Katsina Filling Station Damages Six Vehicles

A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in significant damage to six vehicles, according to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command.

The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024.

He explained that a loud explosion alerted police operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the site, supported by military personnel.

“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” Sadiq-Aliyu stated. The joint team acted swiftly, deploying measures to protect lives and limit property damage. Their efforts successfully extinguished the fire.

The spokesperson added, “Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”

State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as investigations progress.

This incident highlights the need for heightened safety measures at gas filling stations to prevent such occurrences.
