Controversial Nigerian BBL Doctor Passes Away After Critical Illness
Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a well-known Nigerian plastic surgeon and founder of MedContour Services Ltd., has reportedly passed away following a critical illness.
Dr. Anu, as she was popularly known, was recently convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos over the failed plastic surgery that led to the death of her patient, Nneka Onwuzuligbo, in 2020.
Dr. Anu’s medical career has been marred by controversy and legal battles. Her conviction stemmed from charges brought by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), which included her failure to comply with an investigation and her refusal to produce necessary documents related to the case. The court sentenced her to a one-year jail term or a fine of N100,000.

Nneka Onwuzuligbo’s tragic death in 2020 brought significant public attention to Dr. Anu and her practices. The surgery at MedContour led to severe complications, and Nneka died from infections contracted during the procedure. This incident, coupled with complaints about Dr. Anu’s practices, prompted the FCCPC to seal her clinic and launch an investigation.

Florence Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy, a renowned disc jockey and daughter of Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola, has made history as the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Cuppy moderated the Youth Action Day at the 2024, UNGA, themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day.”

Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account, Yhemolee said, “My friend called me this morning and told me his fiancée is in the hospital struggling to breathe.
“I asked if she had any terminal illness and he said no. He said she checked his phone overnight. My point is, stop checking your partner’s phone, if you die, the person that made you lose your life will move on.
“My friend confirmed to me that if his fiancée went through his phone very well, she might not survive and even if she survives, whenever she remembers what she saw, she would be traumatised.”
