Renowned human rights activist, Akinola Adelabu-Soul, has called for travel restrictions on Omowunmi, the spouse of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, along with their son, Liam.

In a letter titled “Urgent Request to Monitor and Prevent Departure of Mohbad’s Wife and Child,” Adelabu-Soul highlighted concerns surrounding Mohbad’s unexpected passing, which has left fans and the music community in disbelief.

The letter, directed to 13 different consulates across the nation, underscores the need for scrutiny amidst lingering questions surrounding the tragic incident.

Among the consulates listed are those representing the United States of America, Brazil, France, Italy, Russia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, the Republic of Cyprus, Greenland, Canada, the Republic of Korea, and China.

Highlighting Omowunmi’s integral role in Mohbad’s life, Adelabu-Soul emphasized the sensitivity of the situation following the artist’s untimely demise.

He urged the embassies to exercise vigilance and impede their departure from Nigeria until the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

Adelabu-Soul further emphasized the importance of Omowunmi and her child remaining within the country during this crucial period for transparency and accountability purposes.

The statement reads, “Recently, the Nigerian music industry suffered a great loss with the untimely demise of the talented artist Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. His passing has left fans and fellow artists in shock, and there are lingering questions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

“Omowunmi, his 24-year-old wife, was an integral part of Mohbad’s life. They were married, and together they had a young child named Liam. As investigations unfold, it has come to light that a nurse may be connected to the events leading up to Mohbad’s demise. The police have exhumed his body for an autopsy, and the situation remains highly sensitive.

“In light of these developments, I kindly request that your esteemed embassy be vigilant and prevent the departure of Wunmi and their child from Nigeria until the investigation is thoroughly completed.

“We trust that your office will handle this matter with the utmost discretion and urgency. The Nigerian people seek justice, and we believe that your cooperation will contribute significantly to achieving it.”

The letter also included copies sent to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Lagos State Police Command headquarters.

Adelabu-Soul called on the NIS to closely monitor all travel-related activities of Wunmi and take necessary precautions to prevent her departure.

Similarly, he urged the police to stay informed about the situation and assist in ensuring her presence in the country.

In response, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated that Adelabu-Soul lacked the authority to issue such a letter, further asserting that his client had no intentions of leaving the country.

Backlash As Korra Obidi Jets Off To Hawaii After Fans Raised $50,000 For Legal Fee

Published

Nigerian-American singer and dancer Korra Obidi has come under fire from Nigerians on social media after jetting off to Hawaii immediately following the completion of her $50,000 GoFundMe target.

Obidi launched the fundraiser to secure legal assistance in overturning her ex-husband Justin Dean’s custody rights over their children.

The GoFundMe campaign, initiated on Friday, aimed to raise $100,000 to cover legal fees. Within a short period, it amassed over $50,000 from more than 950 donors worldwide.

Despite vocalizing her intent to fight for her children, Obidi sparked outrage when she revealed her plans for a Hawaiian vacation during a live Facebook session on Sunday.

Critics accused Obidi of using the fundraiser as a means to finance her lavish lifestyle rather than pursuing legal action against her ex-husband. Disgruntled fans took to social media to express their disappointment, labeling Obidi as a “professional beggar” and questioning her sincerity.

Wanda Johnson, a Facebook user, denounced Obidi’s actions, asserting that she had deceived her supporters. Similarly, Chigoziri Ohochukwu condemned Obidi for what they perceived as manipulative behavior.

Others, like Jennifer Lynn Russell, called for the GoFundMe campaign to be reported in an attempt to reclaim donated funds. Nene Peters expressed disbelief at Obidi’s swift transition from seeking legal aid to embarking on a holiday.

Amidst the criticism, some defended Obidi’s right to privacy and autonomy. Mary Monique Napont urged detractors to refrain from scrutinizing Obidi’s choices, emphasizing her multifaceted identity as an influencer, performer, student, and mother.

The divorce and custody dispute between Obidi and Dean have been the subject of public attention, with recent developments granting Dean the authority to limit their children’s exposure on Obidi’s social media platforms. Obidi has accused Dean of abuse and manipulation during their marriage, alleging that he continues to mistreat their daughters.

As the controversy unfolds, Obidi’s actions have reignited debates surrounding accountability and transparency in online fundraising efforts.
