Al Ittihad Fires Ex-Tottenham Manager Nuno
Al Ittihad has dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager, due to a series of unsatisfactory results under his leadership.
The mounting pressure on Nuno escalated due to Al Ittihad’s struggles in the Saudi Pro League.
The final blow came after a 2-0 defeat to Iraq’s Air Force Club in the Asian Champions League on Monday, leading to his departure from the club.
Nuno, who previously achieved success as the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers from 2017-2021, had been at the helm of Jeddah-based Al Ittihad since July of the previous year.
Despite guiding Al Ittihad to the Saudi title last season, Nuno, who also had a successful time coaching Porto, reportedly faced challenges in his man-management of star-striker, Karim Benzema.
The French striker had joined the club in June as part of the influx of foreign stars into the Pro League.
Al Ittihad said in a statement posted on X, that “The club has announced the end of its contract with Portuguese coach Nuno Santo.
“This decision comes after a comprehensive technical evaluation of the past phase during which he was in charge of coaching the first football team.”
The statement also revealed that Assistant Coach, Hassan Khalifa will assume temporary charge as Al Ittihad finalizes arrangements for Nuno’s replacement.
Recall that Nuno, who became Tottenham’s manager in the summer of 2021, had a brief tenure of just four months before being dismissed.

“The city hall of Ciudad Rodrigo expresses its sadness and presents its condolences for the death of a boy of 13.”
The municipality described the incident as a devastating turn of events, saying: “What should have been a celebration of Spain’s team in the football World Cup turned into tragedy.”
Emergency services also confirmed that another youth was injured in the collapse, while several others sustained injuries as rescue teams rushed to the scene.
Local media reported that the fountain gave way under the weight of dozens of fans who had climbed onto the structure to celebrate Spain’s World Cup triumph.
The fatal accident cast a somber mood over celebrations across the football-loving nation, with many expressing grief just hours after Spain’s memorable victory on the world stage.
