CBN Staff, Wife, Brutally Murdered, House Set Ablaze, Others Kidnapped In Ogun
A staff member at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kehinde Fatinoye, and his wife, a Principal Confidential Secretary at the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, were tragically murdered in their private residence in the Ibara GRA area of the state on Sunday.
The couple had just returned from a New Year’s church service when the attack occurred. The suspects set the house on fire and kidnapped the couple’s son and housemaid.
The victims were burnt beyond recognition and their remains were later found by police and health officials. It is suspected that the crime was committed by arsonists who traced the couple to their home after they left the church.
The couple’s first son is also missing, and it is unknown if he is dead or alive. This is a devastating blow to the Fatinoye family, who were still grieving the loss of their second son in July of 2022.
A sympathiser, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the couple lost their second son last July.
The source said, “Fatinoye family as a whole has been totally wiped out. The first son was also taken away; dead or alive, we don’t know. They were just recovering from the loss of their second son in July 2022.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
He stated that an investigation into the incident has been launched and one person has been arrested in connection to the crime.
