As anticipation builds for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team is set to embark on its continental journey, with Head Coach Eric Chelle officially naming his final 23-man squad on Thursday.
Leading the team is captain Junior Harrison Nduka, who will be joined by a mix of seasoned and emerging talents, including prolific striker Godwin Obaje, solid defender Sikiru Alimi, and safe-handed goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena Ani.
The squad, having trained rigorously over the past few weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, is scheduled to fly out of Nigeria Thursday evening via Ethiopian Airlines.

Their destination: Zanzibar, where the next phase of their preparation will take place.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the team will be based in Zanzibar from July 25 to 31 for a second-stage training camp.
During this time, two international friendly matches have been arranged against the Senior National Team of Zanzibar to sharpen the squad before the CHAN kicks off.
According to the NFF, “arrangements have been firmed up” for the friendlies, which are seen as crucial tune-up games for the home-based side.
The Super Eagles B, who won silver in the 2018 edition and bronze in 2014, have been drawn in Group D of this year’s tournament. They will go head-to-head with defending champions Senegal, as well as Sudan and Congo. The team’s first two matches will be played at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, while their last group game is scheduled for the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
With this final list, Coach Chelle has opted for a strong Remo Stars presence, particularly in the midfield and attack, as the club contributes several players including Hadi Haruna, Michael Tochukwu, and Jabbar Malik.

FIFA Under Fire as US Authorities Launch Probe Into Alleged Ticket Exploitation
World football governing body FIFA is facing growing scrutiny after authorities in the United States opened an investigation into allegations of ticket pricing exploitation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The probe, announced by officials in New York and New Jersey, will examine whether FIFA engaged in unfair pricing strategies, including alleged “impossibly high” ticket costs, misleading seat allocations, and dynamic pricing models that push prices higher as demand increases.
According to prosecutors, the investigation aims to determine whether fans were unfairly treated during the ticket sales process or misled about what they were purchasing.

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport described the ticketing system as confusing and exploitative, saying it has turned access to World Cup matches into what she called a “gauntlet of confusion and fake scarcity.”
Her New York counterpart, Letitia James, also expressed concern over rising ticket prices and accessibility, stressing that football supporters deserve transparency and fairness in the sales process.
The controversy has intensified ahead of the tournament kickoff on June 11 across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with the final scheduled to be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.
Beyond ticket prices, fans have also raised concerns about additional match-day costs, including expensive transportation and parking fees, further increasing the financial burden of attending games.
The investigation adds to mounting pressure on FIFA as global criticism grows over the commercialisation of major football tournaments and the affordability of attending matches for ordinary supporters.
Authorities in other US states have also reportedly raised concerns, suggesting the issue could be more widespread across the tournament’s hosting arrangements.
