We Did Not Receive Any Application From Chef Dammy – GWR
According to the Guinness World Records, they have stated that they did not receive an application regarding the recently concluded cookathon in Oye-Ekiti by chef Dammy.
Chef Dammy took on the challenge of cooking in Oye-Ekiti starting on Friday, June 9. The organizers had announced that she would cook continuously for a duration of 120 hours.
However, Chef Dammy faced both criticism and strong support as she undertook her cooking endeavor in Oye-Ekiti.
While some individuals criticized her, accusing her of imitating Hilda Baci, others rallied behind her with overwhelming support.
Amidst the mixed reactions, confusion arose as people continued to criticize Dammy, suggesting that her intentions were to gain attention similar to Hilda Baci.
One businessman even took it to the extreme by offering her N1 million to cease her cooking marathon.
On social media platforms, some Nigerians accused her of intentionally turning off the gas while picking beans, while others advised her to go home and rest.
Despite the scrutiny, Chef Dammy persevered and remained dedicated to her goal, cooking non-stop until she successfully completed the 120-hour mark.
In order to clarify the public’s curiosity regarding Dammy’s cooking marathon, Legit.ng reached out to the Guinness World Records by submitting a press enquiry on Tuesday, June 13.
It appears that her cooking endeavor was driven by her passion for cooking and a desire to showcase her skills, which many people have acknowledged.
Legit.ng sought to ascertain if the Guinness World Records was aware of the cookathon, aiming to provide clarification to the interested members of the public.
The body said: “We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.
“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to.
“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.
“There is no waiting time to attempt to break an existing record.” It added
In a tweet shared on June 7, just before the commencement of the cookathon, the organizers of the event, The Spirit Word Mission, expressed their intention to pursue a world record by Friday, September 5, 2023.
Legit.ng attempted to seek clarification on this story by sending a WhatsApp enquiry to the published contact number of the organizers of Chef Dammy’s cookathon however, no response has been received thus far.
In addition, Legit.ng also engaged in conversation with Chuwuebuka Ezugha, the founder/chairman of Chukwuebuka Freestyle Entertainment and Academy, who has applied for 16 record attempts for talented footballers under his training.
Chuwuebuka confirmed the statement made by the Guinness World Records regarding the necessity of submitting an application before attempting to break a record tofurther validates the importance of the application process in the Guinness World Records’ procedures.
He said: “It takes up to 12 weeks in each process and possibly five working days if you choose and pay for “Priority Application.” I applied for all 16 records by myself. Without receiving and following GWR attempt guidelines, the record won’t be approved.”
Although it is now evident that the organizers of the cookathon may not have intended to break any records, it is important to note that the event was not a failure.
The support from Nigerians on social media was overwhelming, and some even expressed their admiration by offering generous incentives, such as one individual who pledged to give Dammy N500,000 and a cooking tour of the United States.

Davido Is Richer Than His Billionaire Father – Ibrahim Chatta Claims
Renowned Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, has sparked conversation by claiming that award-winning singer Davido is richer and more influential than his billionaire father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke.
Chatta made this statement while addressing the importance of respecting individuals in positions of authority, regardless of their age. He argued that accomplishments, not age, determine who an elder is. Using historical references, Chatta cited Alexander the Great, who achieved incredible feats before his death at 33, as an example of youthful greatness.
“God purposely placed some certain people in some positions, but you guys are looking at their age. It’s not about the age; any younger person that possesses things that belong to elders, is an elder,” Chatta said.
The actor emphasized that Davido’s wealth and influence surpass those of his father, despite Dr. Adeleke’s established status as a billionaire. Chatta highlighted the global recognition and adoration Davido commands, describing the singer as someone who garners immense loyalty and admiration.
“I was just looking at the numbers of people surrounding Davido the day I sat with him, I was just seeing how people were ready to be killed just to get to him. He is an elder. Davido’s father is a billionaire that has been doing big things before the singer’s arrival. His father is rich but not as Davido. If his dad is passing by, you might not recognise him, but if Davido passes here, a stampede will happen.”
Chatta’s remarks have stirred reactions across social media, with many debating whether fame and influence should outweigh wealth in defining success.
