Court Grants Angela Okorie ₦5m Bail Over Alleged Cyberbullying of Mercy Johnson
The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Nollywood actress Angela Okorie bail in the sum of ₦5 million over allegations of cyberbullying and criminal defamation involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie.
Justice Emeka Nwite, while ruling on Okorie’s bail application on Friday, held that although the prosecution opposed the request, there was no sufficient evidence before the court to establish that the defendant would abscond if released on bail.
According to the judge, bail is a discretionary power of the court which must be exercised judicially and judiciously, adding that granting bail in the case was in the interest of justice.

The court admitted Okorie to ₦5 million bail with one surety in like sum, who must be a Level 13 civil servant.
The surety is required to depose to an affidavit of means and present proof of employment, including an appointment letter and evidence of last promotion.
Justice Nwite further ordered that both Okorie and her surety submit two passport photographs each to the court registrar, while the surety’s residence must be verified before the bail can be perfected.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, the actress was ordered to be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned to March 23, 2026, for trial.
Earlier, Okorie was re-arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on cyberstalking and criminal defamation, allegedly committed between 2024 and 2025, contrary to the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecution counsel, Victor Okoye, opposed the bail application, arguing that the actress had previously been granted administrative bail and allegedly absconded.
He urged the court to exercise caution, noting that some of the offences attract penalties ranging from three to ten years imprisonment.
However, defence counsel Earnest Nwoye dismissed the claims, stating that Okorie had informed the police of her temporary travel for medical examination and had communicated this through official correspondence supported by medical evidence.
The charges followed a petition filed by Mercy Johnson-Okojie’s lawyer, accusing Okorie of publishing defamatory statements on Instagram and TikTok, allegedly aimed at damaging the complainant’s reputation and inciting public hostility.
The police also alleged that Okorie conspired with one Ifeoma Mbonu, who is currently at large, to commit the offences.

“My career began simply, music was a hobby I made with my boys as a means of bonding and connection before it was anything else,” he said.
According to Siraheem, sustaining his music career alongside his other responsibilities had become increasingly difficult over the past year.

Explaining his decision, the singer said he owed his fans and colleagues a professional conclusion to his current chapter.
“So I owe it to my true fans, and to my colleagues in this industry a professional exit, I have decided to stop putting out new music,” he stated.
However, Siraheem stressed that his departure from music would not end his creative pursuits. He revealed plans to diversify into other fields and pursue new ventures.
“To my fans the ‘Siraheem music’ era may be closing, but the creative in me is still hungry for new challenges, still reaching. The future stays positive. I have plans to diversify my creative palette into other fields and I will be back with new ventures,” he said.

Siraheem said music remains therapeutic to him and disclosed that he had spent the past year working on what he considered his best material yet.
“Music still remains therapeutic for me. With time, maybe the album finds its way into the world somehow after all,” he said.
Siraheem began releasing music professionally around 2022 and gained attention with songs including Bad Bitch Syndrome, Kowope, SOWETO and TRU$T FUND.
His debut project, By The Order Of The City, an eight-track project, was released on May 1, 2026.
Despite announcing his exit, Siraheem did not completely rule out a comeback.
