Court Jails Ex-PDP Chairman’s Son, One Other For N2.2bn Oil Subsidy Fraud
Mamman Ali, son of former PDP National Chairman Ahmadu Ali, and his associate Christian Taylor have been sentenced to 14 years in prison each over their involvement in a N2.2 billion oil subsidy scam.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Ikeja Special Offences Court, who found both men guilty of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretences, forgery, and using false documents.
Ali and Taylor were charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside their company, Nasaman Oil Services Ltd, in a 57-count amended charge.
The charges stemmed from fraudulent subsidy claims made in 2011.

According to the EFCC, the defendants had claimed to import over 20 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from SEATAC Petroleum Ltd, based in the British Virgin Islands, under the Petroleum Support Fund.
They allegedly used forged documents, including a falsified “Gasoline Analysis” report, to obtain N1.9 billion from the Federal Government.
Despite pleading not guilty and presenting themselves as defence witnesses, their claims were dismantled by the prosecution’s evidence.
The EFCC counsel, Mr. Seiduh Atteh, presented nine witnesses and several documents that Justice Dada described as “compelling.”
“Their actions not only robbed the nation of vital resources but also undermined the integrity of the Petroleum Support Fund,” the judge said.
She sentenced both convicts to 14 years on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently. The court also ordered the forfeiture of assets and accounts linked to the fraud.
In addition, Justice Dada issued arrest warrants for two other individuals, Oluwaseun Ogunbambo and Olabisi Abdulafeez, who are still at large.
The case originally began under Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo before his retirement, after which it continued before Justice Dada.
