Amidst an extraordinary win in the film industry, Funke Akindele tenderly dedicates the record-breaking success of ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ to the enduring memory of her late mother.

She expressed a heartfelt wish that her late mother, R.B. Adebanjo-Akindele, could have witnessed the remarkable success of the film.

Akindele disclosed this in a three-minute Instagram video on January 6, 2024.

She said, “The success of my film, A Tribe Called Judah has been surreal. The story is so dear to my heart and it represents the struggles faced by many single parents and mothers in the society. The film also sheds more focus on rebellious children.

“I dedicate the success of this film to my late mum, Dr R.B. Adebanjo-Akindele. She raised a queen. I wish she was here today to see all these but I thank God for everything and I am sure she is smiling wherever she is.”

Recall that during the movie premiere on December 10, 2023, at the Filmhouse Cinema IMAX in Lekki, Lagos, Funke Akindele emphasized the deep personal significance of ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’

She revealed that the movie held a special place in her heart as it contained a part of her late mother within its storyline.

She said, “The story is so dear to my heart. It has a part of my late mum in it, and it represents the struggles faced by many single parents and mothers in society. The film also sheds some focus on rebellious children.”

In spite of this, Akindele extended her gratitude to the movie’s cast and crew, her siblings, and her dedicated fan base who have continuously supported her throughout the years.

“There would be no one billion naira without you my incredible fans. Thank you very much. You all have been supporting me over the years and you still push me to be better, God bless you all. I appreciate your comments and reposts. This is for you,” she added.

With its remarkable success, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has secured a spot among the top three highest-grossing Nollywood films to date.

Funke Akindele’s movie now proudly stands alongside her other hits — ‘Battle on Buka Street’ (N668.4m) and ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ (N636.1m), claiming the second and third spots respectively.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, known as Captain Degzy, the film delves into the tale of brothers plotting a mall heist to fund their mother’s medical expenses.

However, their plans took a surprising turn when they confronted armed robbers during the robbery.

Starring Timini Egbuson, Jideofor Achufusi, Olumide Oworu, Genoveva Umeh, and Nse Ikpe-Etim, the movie boasts an ensemble cast bringing this gripping narrative to life.

Skit Maker Ijoba Lande Reportedly Missing

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Ganiyu Morufu, better known as Ijoba Lande, has alleged that his estranged wife, Dara, was involved in multiple affairs, claiming to have video evidence of her encounters with several men.

During an Instagram livestream interview with media personality Daddy Freeze on Monday night, Lande disclosed that he has eight videos showing different men sleeping with Dara, aside from Yoruba Nollywood actor Baba Tee, who recently admitted to being intimate with her.

“I have eight videos of other men sleeping with my wife aside from Baba Tee. It’s so painful. I watched how these men were spanking her,” Lande stated.

The comedian, visibly emotional, expressed his disappointment and said the betrayal had deeply affected him.

“So, if she behaves like that as a single mother, it does not mean all single mothers will behave like that. It is just on her will to be promiscuous.

“Since I left her, no woman appeals to me anymore; I have been avoiding all women. I challenge anybody to admit seeing me with any lady in a hotel since this incident happened. I’m embittered with the whole situation. She’s a bad woman,” he added.

Lande also revealed that he has been in possession of Baba Tee’s alleged sex tape with Dara for four months and suggested that he might release it soon.

The controversy initially gained traction after Baba Tee, who had previously denied any involvement with Dara, later admitted to having a brief sexual encounter with her.

His confession contradicted his earlier claim that Lande was defaming him and should provide evidence or face legal action.

Lande further alleged that his wife’s infidelity was extensive, stating that at least 21 men in the entertainment industry had been with her.

In response, Dara denied engaging in any sexual activity with Baba Tee, insisting that the only physical contact they had was when she sat on his lap during a “Truth or Dare” game initiated by her friend, Marygold.

“The first time I met Baba Tee was in July last year when Marygold told me we should go to his house because she wanted to invite him to the launching of her movie. When we got there, Baba Tee didn’t know I was Lande’s wife, we greeted, and Marygold said she wanted to drink alcohol.

“There was no alcohol in the house, so Marygold and Baba Tee’s driver went to buy it while I sat down in the living room. Baba Tee and I didn’t talk till they returned.

PWhen Marygold entered the house, she said we should start a ‘Truth or Dare’ game. I didn’t want to, but she encouraged me, so I told Baba Tee that I was Lande’s wife, and we started the game.

“As the game was going on, Marygold stripped herself naked and gave Baba Tee a BJ. By then, I had already drunk 10 shots of alcohol while Marygold and Baba Tee were smoking ‘Igbo’ (marijuana). Marygold then dared Baba Tee to give me a doggy style, so Baba Tee went to get a condom.

“When he returned, I told him I would not allow doggy, but I would sit on him. We then told Marygold to turn to the wall so she wouldn’t watch us. I only sat on his lap; we didn’t do anything,” she explained.
