Husband Takes Legal Action Against Wife Over Submission

Published

on

In Jikwoyi, Abuja, the presiding judge of a customary court, Dada Oluwaseyi, delivered a noteworthy admonishment to Murikat Nura on Friday.

During the court proceedings, Judge Oluwaseyi advised Murikat to exhibit submissiveness towards her husband.

The case was brought to court by Matthew Nura, Murikat’s husband, who accused her of engaging in frequent fights and showing disrespect towards him.

In his ruling, Judge Oluwaseyi emphasized that according to their marital vows, Murikat was obligated to submit to her husband.

The judge said “This is the exact reason why I always advise parties intending to tie the knot to be sure before they say ‘I do’.

“Don’t have a mindset that there is an option to opt out. Woman, be submissive to your husband, so it is written in the holy book,”

Judge Oluwaseyi offered additional guidance to the couple, urging them to consider the well-being of their children, who were born out of their marriage, before making any decisions regarding their union.

He said “Reason beyond the flesh; marriages got bad because we reason in the flesh. For the sake of these little children, I want you both to reconcile,”

Following the proceedings, Judge Oluwaseyi decided to adjourn the matter until July 27.
