Renowned Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, has passed away.
The sad news of her death was confirmed by Ilorin-based Islamic cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, who announced it via his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
Jubril Gawat, the media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, also shared the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. In his post, he quoted the Quran, saying, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return” (Quran 2:156), confirming her demise.
Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was a beloved figure in the Islamic music community, known for her melodious voice and spiritual songs that resonated deeply with Muslims across Nigeria and beyond. She was the daughter of veteran broadcaster, Alhaji Rasaq Aremu Gawat, who was also well-known in Nigerian media circles.

Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo has secured a victory in the 2024 general elections, winning the parliamentary seat for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
