‘Return The Tithe’, Charly Boy Calls Out Pastor Adeboye After Apology

Published

Veteran Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has reacted to Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding his stance on tithing.

Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), had previously claimed that those who do not pay tithes would not make it to heaven, a statement he recently retracted.

During a sermon, Pastor Adeboye apologised, saying, “I’m apologizing for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.’”

However, Charly Boy, known for his outspoken nature, expressed dissatisfaction with Adeboye’s apology. In a strongly worded post, Charly Boy stated that the apology was meaningless unless Adeboye returned the tithes collected from followers based on the original claim.

Charly Boy wrote, “Your apology don’t mean shit unless you promise to return the tithe money them give you for mumu people wey wan bribe dia way to heaven.”

He went on to criticise certain church practices and the perceived hypocrisy of some church leaders, saying, “I truly believe that a lot of the fakest people are found in churches… Stop giving ur CONGREGATION ridiculous Lamba’s. There is nothing worse than a fault-finding finger-pointing Pastor who is as fake as the blings of a wanna-be artist.”

Charly Boy has long been known for his controversial takes on societal and religious issues, and his latest comments have sparked reactions across social media.

Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has addressed allegations made by a fashion designer, identified on Instagram as @stitchesbyandra, accusing her of owing millions in debt.

The designer took to her Instagram stories to publicly call out the actress, alongside Annie Idibia and Gabriel Anthony, for an alleged unpaid debt that has been outstanding for over a year.

In her post, the designer expressed frustration over the long-standing issue, saying, “@toyin_abraham @annieidibial @gabrielanthonys, my patience is running out already. 1 year and 2 months. How can you be with someone’s millions and feel so reluctant?”

Toyin Abraham, responding to the accusations on Friday night, denied any involvement in the matter. The actress took to her own Instagram page to refute the claims, assuring her fans and followers that the allegation was false.

“Hello everyone, I want to address the recent allegations about an unpaid debt to a fashion designer. The situation has been completely misunderstood. During the production of Malaika, there was a runway scene, and we needed dresses. We contacted a couple of designers, including Tiannah, to provide the dresses.

“Additionally, Gabriel, who was part of the team, mentioned that a friend of his also wanted to contribute some dresses, and she did. I even bought a hairpiece from her, for which I paid in full. As for the dresses she provided, they were borrowed for the shoot, and once we finished using them, I handed them back to Gabriel, who brought them to us.

“Upon seeing the online allegations online, I called Gabriel immediately for clarification. Gabriel confirmed that he informed the designer that the dresses had already been returned to him and subsequently borrowed by someone else. Therefore, it is no longer my responsibility. I hope this clears the confusion.”
