Stop dating broke women - Solomon Buchi advices men

Olusanya Funmilayo

Nigerian writer and life coach, Solomon Buchi has advised his followers to desist from dating women who are not financially stable.

Taking to his official Twitter account on Thursday the writer stated that men should avoid women who do not like to make their own money.

He wrote: “Men, stop dating broke women. They won’t help you grow. They’ll drain you. They need money for everything, even for oxygen. They hate work, but they love soft life. Check their IG, you’ll think they’re millionaires. Avoid dating broke women, but give them jobs if you can, but they hate working though. So it’s a lose-lose case.”

Buchi’s article drew largely female criticism, both constructive and negative, as they emphasized that being broke and productive is different from being broke and lazy.

See the reactions:

@successib said: “What is your definition of broke?? Imagine having a girlfriend in medical school who cannot survive without your support. It’s just a temporary situation and u cannot tell us not to support them because they are broke.”

@jenny_innocent wrote: “There is a thin line between broke and laziness. What you analysed are attributes of lazy women. Being broke doesn’t automatically mean one is lazy.”

@EvelynFolu said: “Forgive me @Solomon_Buchi , it’s not broke women, it’s lazy women. There are broke women who are hardworking but their jobs ain’t commensurate. Too many mouths to feed but would never bill a guy for money or even accept money from their boyfriend even if you put a knife.”

@AgboolaBukolaS1 stated: “But ma @EvelynFolu I don’t think any woman that can pay her own bills should be classified as broke, tho she might not have a car, a house, or even afford to buy herself a wig but she is living within her income. I don’t think that should  be called broke.”

@joeinstein wrote: “Wo, Buchi, we’re all broke in this Nigerian right now. I do 9-5, still have my errand business and I’m not in the present “average/comfort” set of Nigerians. Stop feeding people audacious takes abeg!”

Earlier this year Buchi received backlash from his followers after he posted a message about his fiancée not being the most beautiful or intelligent.

The post reads: “You’re not the most beautiful woman; neither are you the most intelligent woman, but I’ve chosen to never find perfection in anyone else. I put my gaze on you, and with that commitment, we would mold ourselves for ourselves. Our perfection is in our commitment.”

Despite being criticized, Buchi doubles up on his rhetoric insisting his woman knows what he meant, and he will block everyone who disagrees or insults him.

It gets worse for him when his caption moves from the Nigerian coast and is posted on TheShadeRoom, a well-known Instagram account in the US.

Don't Compare Me To Portable – Speed Darlington

Controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been released from Kuje Prison following a court directive.

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju disclosed this development on Tuesday, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “Speed Darlington is out of Kuje Prison.”

The singer’s release came after an Abuja court granted him bail. This decision followed intense public pressure on the Nigeria Police Force, which led to his arraignment.

Prior to his release, Speed Darlington had petitioned Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, over his prolonged detention. He called on the DIG to comply with a court order directing his release or formal arraignment.

Justice M.S. Liman had earlier issued an order on December 23, 2024, mandating the police to charge the singer within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.

Speed Darlington’s arrest stemmed from allegations he made against Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy. The singer accused Burna Boy of being involved in an immoral relationship with embattled U.S. rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.

The situation has sparked widespread discussions, with many Nigerians expressing relief at Speed Darlington’s freedom while others continue to debate the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

Burna Boy Left Fans Hanging At Netherlands Concert

In early January 2025, Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy fulfilled a promise by gifting $30,000 to Bethel Okechukwu, a phone repairer from Alaba Market who had claimed to be related to socialite Cubana Chief Priest.

This act of generosity occurred amid an ongoing feud between Burna Boy and the Cubana Chief Priest.

Following the donation, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that Bethel Okechukwu is not his brother, stating, “I have only one biological big brother & two kid sisters. They ain’t doing so bad.” He emphasized that he is not obligated to support his siblings financially and urged the public to verify such claims.

As of now, there are no credible reports indicating that Burna Boy instructed Bethel Okechukwu to take any specific actions towards Cubana Chief Priest after receiving the $30,000. The narrative appears to be centered around Burna Boy’s charitable gesture and Cubana Chief Priest’s subsequent clarification regarding his familial relationships.
