2023 Poll: Psquare, Seun Kuti Fight Dirty On Social Media
Nigerian musician, Seun Kuti on February 8, engaged in an heated argument with the music duo, Psquare, for their sudden endorsement of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Seun expressed his disappointment towards the duo while he referred to Peter Obi as the “internet’s favorite” but questioned his ability to bring about significant change if elected.
Seun also labeled Peter Obi as an opportunistic figure who would not be able to deliver for Nigeria.
He said this in an interview with the online platform Mic On podcast hosted by Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye.
In a follow-up video on Wednesday, Seun, who celebrated his 40th birthday recently, reiterated his stance that only Nigerians can save the country.
Midway into the 30-minute video, the Afrobeat singer veered off and threw subliminal shade at the Okoye brothers.
Seun, called out the music duo, Psquare, for their sudden interest in the LP candidate.
Psquare, composed of Peter and Paul Okoye, has been very open about supporting Mr Obi’s candidacy. They have even performed in some of his campaigns.
“After Psquare don do enough shows for all the rich men and all the politicians of this country, na today Na Peter wan dey tell me to say him know what is good for Nigeria?
“After they’ve played the game. They’ve hyped them up. They sit down with you coming to tell you today that they love you. Why didn’t they love you ten years ago? Ask Psquare why they didn’t love you 20 years ago when they were jumping up and down with PDP all over the place,” he said.
Seun’s outburst surprised many, as in August 2022, Mr Obi visited his older brother, Femi Kuti.
Days before the visit, Mr Obi’s fan base, dubbed ‘Obidients’, threatened to burn down the New Afrika Shrine following a news report, which the elder Kuti described as misleading.
An online news outlet had reported that Femi described Obidients as zombies.
During his visit, Mr Obi promised to run a “campaign based on issues that affect Nigerians”.
Seun’s remarks angered Peter, who also goes by the moniker, Mr P.
Reacting to Seun’s claim, Peter said that the Okoye brothers have never campaigned for anybody.
He noted that they only sang at President Buhari’s inauguration, only after he was declared president.
He also advised Seun to take a cue from his nephew, Made Kuti, who he noted was well-guided and clean.
“Dude, I understand your frustration. But realise that the sky is big enough for all birds to fly. @burnaboy and other great artistes have climbed our great Fela’s ladder to blow. Comport yourself and pray to your god.
“My God has blessed my destiny & I’ll 4ever remain thankful. I’ll surely keep you in my prayers. Learn from your nephew @Madekuti cos he is well guided and clean,” he said, among other things.
Peter further inferred that Seun had erased his father, the late Abami Eda, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s, history.
“Dude just erased his father’s history. You said only the people of Nigeria could save Nigeria. Is PO and the rest candidates, not the Nigerian people? SHAME SHAME SHAME,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
Seun responded to Peter’s remarks by stating that he preferred to engage in a political debate rather than having Peter insult his family.
He pointed out that while the Okoye family had faced public embarrassment over financial issues, Peter chose to attack Seun by bringing up his late father and nephew.
“Why you no use your nephew talk to me, abi you own brother. Are you not proud of yourself? After una don disgrace una own family online, yab yab oneself, throw oneself anyhow because of money, you are now using my own family to talk to me.
“After you played for Buhari in 2015. You think to say dem no reach out to us too for those times. But we know how to say no. No be everything we go chop,” he added.
Rudeboy responded to seun’s allegations by saying : “E be like I go start to dey smoke dis Igbo ohh” and accompanied the post with laughing emojis.

Olajumoke Onibread Accuses Ex-Husband Of Assault, Career Sabotage
Model Olajumoke Orisaguna, popularly known as Olajumoke Onibread, has opened up about her traumatic experiences in her marriage, accusing her ex-husband, Sunday Orisaguna, of domestic violence and ruining her career.
In an interview with City FM, Olajumoke shared harrowing details of her past, highlighting the abuse she endured during her time in her ex-husband’s family home in Ire, Osun State.
“We stayed in my husband’s family house at Ire in Osun State, and there is no way you stay in such a place that you would not encounter problems,” she recounted.
Olajumoke revealed that her mother-in-law’s hostility exacerbated the situation, as her ex-husband often sided with his mother without hearing her perspective.
“He would not hear my own side of the story before beating me. Whenever I had a misunderstanding with his mother, he would beat me to the extent that my face and body would be swollen. Sometimes he would even use a belt,” she said.

She further explained how she kept the abuse hidden to avoid upsetting her mother, who also lived nearby. Despite the hardships, Olajumoke continued to support the family financially, as her husband was unemployed.
Reflecting on a pivotal moment in January 2016, Olajumoke described the day she decided to leave:
“We were frying akara for his dad’s remembrance when I had an issue with his elder sister. As usual, he beat me up, and I decided that I was going to leave, move to Lagos, and start working at the bakery because I had been there before.”
Three days later, she relocated to Lagos with her two children. According to Olajumoke, the separation led to further challenges as her ex-husband began tarnishing her reputation, contributing to her career’s decline.
“Everything started going down the drain after separation because he started spoiling my name. Since then, things started going down,” she lamented.
Olajumoke, who rose to fame in 2016 after a chance encounter during a photoshoot with British rapper Tinie Tempah and photographer TY Bello, is now using her platform to shed light on the struggles she endured.
The model’s story has reignited conversations about domestic abuse and the societal pressures faced by women in similar situations.
