Ekiti Elects APC’s Oyebanji Governor

The Ekiti State electorate on Saturday, June 18, 2022, elected Biodun Oyebanji of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as their governor.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, declared Oyebanji winner in the early hours of Sunday.

According to Prof. Adebowale, Oyebanji polled a total of 187, 057 to win the election. He averred that the candidate of the APC had fulfilled all the requirements of the law.

In his words, “That I, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer of the Ekiti 2022 Governorship Election held on June 18.

“That Biodun Oyebanji, the candidate of APC, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned.”

The Returning Officer, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, the University of Ibadan, presented the detailed information on the total votes scored by the political parties that took part in the gubernatorial elections, and said that Segun Oni, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, scored 82, 211, to come second.

Others, said he, were the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Bisi Kolawole, who polled 67,457; Accord (A) scored 166; African Action Congress (AAC) 409; All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) 17; while Action Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 141 votes.

In additon, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) scored 5,597; Allied Peoples Movement (APM) 290; Labour Party (LP) polled 195 votes; New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 529 and National Rescue Movement (NRM) 347.

The rest were, Young Progressives Party (YPP)-618; All Peoples Party (APP) polled 1,980 and Zenith Labour Party, (ZLP) polled 282; Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) polled 856.

On details of the electorate, the INEC Returning Officer said that the total numbers of registered voters were 989,224, accredited voters, 363,438, valid votes were, 351865, while voided votes were 8888.

#EdoDecides2024: Shaibu, Oshiomhole Deliver LG For APC

The political fortunes in the Edo State off season 2024 gubernatorial election continue to swing, with the reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu and former Governor, Adam Oshiomhole, delivering the Estako West Local Government Area (LGA) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Results in Etsako West LG which is home to both Shaibu and Oshiomhole saw APC’s governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, polling 32,107 to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) counterpart, Asue Ighodalo, who got 17,483.

Recall that Shaibu rejoined the APC in the buildup to the election after a long battle between him and his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki, who anointed Ighodalo ahead of him.

#EdoDecides: PDP Triumphs In Esan North-East, Ovia South-West LGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner in two local government areas of Edo State.

In Esan North-East, Professor Faruq Adamu Kuta, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced that PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo received 12,522 votes, defeating Monday Okpebholo of the APC, who garnered 10,648 votes.

The election saw a total of 24,311 votes cast, with 674 rejected.

Esan North-East LGA Results:
– Registered Voters: 106,280
– Accredited Voters: 24,430
– PDP: 12,522
– APC: 10,648
– LP: 194
– Valid Votes: 23,637

In Ovia South-West, the PDP also emerged victorious, winning by a narrow margin of 110 votes. Ighodalo received 10,260 votes, while Okpebholo secured 10,150 votes.

The total votes cast in this local government area were 22,796, with 1,086 votes rejected.

Ovia South-West LGA Results:
– Registered Voters: 112,091
– Accredited Voters: 23,196
– PDP: 10,260
– APC: 10,150
– LP: 849
– Valid Votes: 21,710

The results were part of the ongoing collation process led by INEC.

#EdoDecides2024: APC Claims Victory In Orhiomwon, Owan East LGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Orhiomwon local government area in Edo State.

The announcement was made during the ongoing results collation, led by Returning Officer Professor Faruq Adamu Kuta, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna.

APC candidate Monday Okpebholo secured 16,059 votes, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who received 14,614 votes.

Orhiomwon LGA Results:
– Registered voters: 139,260
– Accredited voters: 33,196
– APC: 16,059
– PDP: 14,614
– LP: 556
– Valid votes: 31,559
– Rejected votes: 1,091
– Total votes cast: 32,650

In a similar announcement, INEC confirmed the APC’s victory in the Owan East local government area. This declaration was also made by Professor Kuta during the results collation.

In Owan East, APC candidate Monday Okpebholo garnered 19,380 votes, surpassing PDP’s Asue Ighodalo, who received 14,189 votes.

Owan East LGA Results:
– Registered voters: 106,252
– Accredited voters: 34,618
– APC: 19,380
– PDP: 14,189
– LP: 446
– Valid votes: 34,157
– Rejected votes: 420
– Total votes cast: 34,577

These results mark a significant moment for the APC in Edo State as they continue to consolidate their position in local governance.
