Victor Osimhen Breaks Silence Amid TikTok Controversy

Published

on

Victor Osimhen has spoken out following Napoli’s publication of two contentious TikTok videos, widely perceived as ridiculing the Nigerian footballer.

The deleted videos initially compared Osimhen to a coconut and later mocked his penalty miss against Bologna.

In response, Osimhen, visibly upset, cleared all Napoli-colored pictures from his Instagram account.

The Nigerian government had stepped into the controversy, warning Napoli against any form of discrimination towards Victor Osimhen.

Responding to mounting pressure, Napoli, after days of silence, released a statement on the incident.

Instead of apologizing to Osimhen, the club explained that their intention was not to offend him with the “soft contents” of the videos.

Napoli’s statement stirred further issues, but on Sunday, Victor Osimhen chose the path of maturity, attempting to quell the escalating tensions.

In a personally crafted statement, Victor Osimhen defended the people of Napoli against accusations of racism from outraged commentators. He also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support.

Osimhen said “Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.

“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me.

“I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE

Usyk Defeats Fury To Become Undisputed Champion

Published

on

Oleksandr Usyky triumphed over Tyson Fury by split decision on Sunday, securing the title of the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years, a landmark in the sport’s four-belt era.

Initially, Fury, a Briton, dominated the fight, but Usyk steadily took control. The “Gypsy King” narrowly avoided a knockout in the ninth round before ultimately facing his first career defeat.

Usyk, an undefeated Ukrainian, now stands alongside legends like Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, and Mike Tyson as an undisputed heavyweight champion, a title last unified under the current four-belt system established in the 2000s.

This win allows the former undisputed cruiserweight champion to stake his claim as the leading heavyweight of his era.

However, with a rematch expected in October, the rivalry may yet see another dramatic development.

Usyk, 37, who briefly served as a soldier following the Russian invasion said “It is a big opportunity for me, for my family, for my country. It’s a great time, a great day.” further expressing readiness for a rematch.

Fury called it a “fantastic fight with Oleksandr.”

He said “I believe I won that fight, I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them. You know his country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war but make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion and I will be back.”

Britain’s Lennox Lewis was the last man to unify the heavyweight belts—three at the time—after defeating Evander Holyfield in 1999.
