BREAKING: Senators Donate Dec Salaries To Victims of Kaduna Drone Misfire

Senate panel exposes $679.4 million Unremitted from Ports Concession since 2015 by BPE annually

Nigerian Senators have  empathised with the victims of the Kaduna Drone Misfire, via a condolence visit on the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani.

The NTA broke the news on its verified X handle on Sunday, where it also reported that the delegation led by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, announced a donation of N109 million to the victims.

Biztellers reports that the amount donated amounts to the one-month salaries of the 109 senators.

The NTA wrote, “All the 109 senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have donated their one-month salaries, amounting to N109m to the victims of drone mishap in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of the Kaduna State.

“The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, announced this at the Kaduna Government House when he led a high-powered delegation of the Senate to the state.

“The Senators were received by the state governor, Senator Uba Sani.

“Senator Barau, in a statement by his Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, said the money would be sent to the state governor for onward delivery to the victims.”

It was gathered that the governor expressed his gratitude to the senators for their donation.

Ex-Police Officers Stage Protest Over Unpaid Pensions [video]

Retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest several months of unpaid pensions.

Coming from various state chapters, they voiced their frustration over the hardships they face due to PENCOM’s failure to pay their entitlements.

The retirees are calling on the Federal Government to exempt them from the contributory pension scheme.

In a video shared on social media platform X  on Tuesday, the retirees were seen holding placards and chanting, “All we are saying, give us our right.”

JUST IN: Leukemia Strikes Syrian First Lady

Asma al-Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who bravely battled breast cancer in 2019, has been struck with another health challenge.

The president’s office revealed in a statement on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

The statement said, “First Lady Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.”

Rivers State Governor Submits Commissioner Nominees For Screening

The Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has submitted a list of Commissioner nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The nominees are scheduled to undergo the screening process today, overseen by Assembly members loyal to the Governor.

In a public announcement, the Assembly invited the following individuals for screening and potential confirmation as members of the Rivers State Executive Council: Hon. Prince Charles O. Bekee, Mr. Collins N. Onunwo, Hon. Solomon Eke, Sir. Dr. Peter N. Medee, Hon. Elloka Tasie Amadi, Hon. Basoene Joshua Benibo, Mr. Tambari Sydney Gbara, and Dr. Ovy Orluideye Chinendum Chukwuma.

The screening is set to take place on Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hallowed Chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly, located in the Auditorium, Admin. Block, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.

Nominees are required to bring twelve sets of their Curriculum Vitae (CV), along with the originals and photocopies of their credentials.

This process is a crucial step in the formation of the new executive council, which is expected to drive the administration’s agenda for development in Rivers State.
