Wizkid Stirs Controversy With Cryptic Post Ahead Of Davido’s Wedding

Published

on

Afrobeats star Wizkid has ignited controversy with a cryptic message posted ahead of his colleague, Davido’s forthcoming wedding to fiancée, Chioma Rowland.

The event is set to take place on June 25 in Lagos, despite recent allegations of infidelity against Davido.

Davido recently confirmed the wedding date and shared pre-wedding photos with Chioma on social media on Sunday evening.

Shortly after, Wizkid tweeted “Lol [lots of laughs]”, prompting a frenzy among fans who perceived it as a response to Davido’s posts.

Adding fuel to the fire, on Monday morning, Wizkid took to his X handle to share another message that many interpreted as a subtle dig at Davido.

He wrote, “Saying a prayer for every understanding woman on earth! Your king loves you.”

This post garnered mixed reactions, with some suggesting it was a veiled reference to Chioma, who has stood by Davido despite the infidelity rumours.

Further complicating matters, Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, recently stated that she and Davido rekindled their romance between 2020 and 2022, a period during which Davido was also courting Chioma.

As the wedding day approaches, the tension between the two Afrobeats icons appears to be escalating, capturing the attention of their fans and the media alike.

Olu Jacobs Still Alive, Son Confirms Amid Death Rumours

Published

on

Amid widespread rumours on social media, the family of Nollywood veteran, Olu Jacobs has confirmed that the acclaimed actor is still alive.

In an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Jacobs’ first son, Soji, debunked the false reports of his father’s death.

To dispel any doubts, Soji shared a video showing the 81-year-old actor calmly seated while having his beard shaved.

In the video, Jacobs, though appearing frail, is seen engaging in brief conversation with his barber and those around him.

The rumours of Jacobs’ death have resurfaced multiple times since November 2021, following revelations by his wife, actress Joke Silva, about his health struggles.

The family has repeatedly refuted these claims, providing videos and photos as evidence of Jacobs’ well-being.

In 2021, Silva disclosed that her husband has been battling Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) for several years, which has contributed to his absence from the film industry.

The couple has since been open about his condition, aiming to raise awareness and counteract misinformation.

She had said,  “He is dealing with issues and it has been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with Lewy Body. It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson’s type of disease, it affects the brain so you don’t see the shaking. It affects the person.

“It’s been hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and also on family members as well. We have gone through it over the past couple of years and we thank God.

“We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we worked together

Court Of Appeal Upholds Baba Ijesha’s 5-Year Conviction

Published

on

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has upheld the five-year prison sentence of actor Baba Ijesha.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court had originally sentenced Baba Ijesha to five years’ imprisonment on 12 July 2022 for the sexual assault of a minor.

Dissatisfied with the verdict, Baba Ijesha appealed the judgement through his counsel, Kayode Olabiran.

Delivering the judgement on the appeal, Justice Folashade Ojo on Thursday, 27 June 2024, overturned the appellant’s conviction for the indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault of a minor between 2013-2014, describing the testimony of PW1 (Damilola Adekoya) as hearsay.

However, Justice Ojo found Adekoya’s eyewitness account for the incident on 19 April 2021 credible, emphasising that Baba Ijesha had confessed to the crime in police statements.

The appellate court further affirmed Baba Ijesha’s imprisonment for the indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault from the April 2021 incident, noting that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court ordered as follows: “I affirm the conviction and sentence of the appellant to 5 years’ imprisonment for the offence of indecent treatment of a child contrary to section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015 (count 4 of the charge).

“I also affirm the appellant’s conviction to 3 years’ imprisonment for sexual assault contrary to section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011 (count 5 of the information).

“The sentences for counts 4 and 5 are to run concurrently.”
