Reno Omokri, a prominent social commentator has criticized Peter Obi for his silence regarding the recent killings in Imo State.

In a post Via X on Wednesday, Omokri expressed his concerns about Obi’s lack of response to the deaths of four police officers and a POS seller in the hands of unknown gunmen.

“Forty-eight hours after four police officers and a POS seller were killed in Imo by unknown gunmen, Peter Obi has still not condemned their killing or even acknowledged that such an event occurred.

Twenty four hours after Simon Ekpa of IPOB claimed responsibility, Peter Obi still has not condemned Ekpa or IPOB,” Omokri tweeted.

Omokri reminded the public of Obi’s comments on IPOB during a 2017 appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, where he stated, “They (IPOB) are not terrorists. I live in Onitsha, and I can tell you they are not terrorists. They (IPOB members) are people I pass on the road every time, (and) every day.”

Omokri also pointed out that Obi had recently called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, claiming there was a court judgment ordering his release, which Omokri described as false.

He added “Don’t also forget that a month ago, Peter Obi called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, and lied that there was a subsisting court judgment ordering his release.

“Finally, recall that this man IMMEDIATELY condemns even the smallest insecurity that occurs OUTSIDE the Southeast.”

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Bello has since left the lodge, accompanied by the current Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo. Following the incident, normalcy appears to have returned to the vicinity.

This latest attempt to apprehend Bello follows his long-standing status on the EFCC’s wanted list for allegedly laundering N80.2 billion. After months of evading capture, a statement from the Director of Yahaya Bello Media Office, Ohiare Michael, indicated that the former governor had agreed to attend an EFCC invitation after consulting with his family, legal advisors, and political allies.

However, the EFCC responded by clarifying that Bello is not in their custody and remains a wanted individual due to the serious money laundering charges against him, as reiterated by spokesman Dele Oyewale.
