The Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132KV Transmission Line 1 in Abuja axis was attacked by suspected vandals.

Ndidi Mbah, the TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, revealed this in a press statement released on Monday.

According to the statement, the incident which occurred on Sunday between Tower 23 and Tower 25, led to the disruption of power supply along the line.

TCN’s investigation found a vandalized section between these towers, prompting a swift response from their linesmen.

In addition to the damage, Ndidi Mbah mentioned that the vandals had stolen conductors, resulting in a power outage at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation.

Despite this, TCN has managed a temporary restoration of bulk power supply to Kukwaba Substation by rerouting through the Apo Substation. Efforts are underway to initiate repairs on the affected line as part of ongoing arrangements.

Mbah said “Presently, TCN has restored bulk power supply to Kukwaba Substation at 07:08 pm as a temporary solution through Apo Substation. Arrangements are, however, ongoing to effect repairs on the affected line.”
