Actress Adunni Ade grabs first award in Nollywood
Popular American/Nigerian Actress and producer Adunni Adewale better known as Adunni Ade has won her first major award as the best Nollywood Actress Yoruba.
The light skinned actress stepped out for an event over the weekend in a lovely black dress as she uploaded the pictures on her gram.
She revealed that she won her first Yoruba award in over four years she has spent in the yoruba movie industry.
Adunni Ade added that since she had decided to feature in several roles in Yoruba movies, it has helped her “sharpened my acting as I’m given different roles to interpret (rich lady, mad woman, thug, street girl, and the list goes on).”
The thespian also appreciated fans, colleagues movie producers and directors who encouraged her to act in Yoruba movies.
She wrote:
“And this happened! My First Yoruba Award, Best Nollywood Actress (Yoruba) 3/4 years in the Yoruba aspect of Nollywood. A lot of accolades from fans Worldwide, then you have the bashers… oh well! I see it all! Adunni Ade worked in the housing and insurance sectors in the United States before switching to the entertainment industry.
After moving back to Nigeria, she landed her first Nollywood role when she acted in the Yoruba langguage film “You or I” in 2013.
Her short video comedy sketch “Date Gone Bad”, which was released on YouTube in 2014, has attracted so much attention that it recorded more than 170,000 hits.
She has also featured in several other Nollywood movies of both English and Yoruba languages, including some music videos for late Sound Sultan and Ice Prince. She received a Stella Award from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism for her efforts in promoting the Nigerian culture.
Adunni has two sons; D’Marion and Ayden. She revealed that after she made a difficult choice to break up with their father, she would continue being a single parent.

Gas Explosion in Katsina Filling Station Damages Six Vehicles
A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in significant damage to six vehicles, according to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command.
The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024.
He explained that a loud explosion alerted police operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the site, supported by military personnel.

“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” Sadiq-Aliyu stated. The joint team acted swiftly, deploying measures to protect lives and limit property damage. Their efforts successfully extinguished the fire.
The spokesperson added, “Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”
State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as investigations progress.
This incident highlights the need for heightened safety measures at gas filling stations to prevent such occurrences.
