Bolt Blocks Accounts Over Nigeria-S/Africa Ride Prank

Published

on

Bolt users in Nigeria and South Africa have sparked a social media trend by participating in a prank, involving placing and cancelling fake ride requests, which sought to intensify the rivalry between the two countries.

It doesn’t seem the idea has gone down well with the ride-hailing company, as it responded by blocking several accounts linked to this activity.

The prank involves users from one country ordering rides in the other and then canceling them after the driver accepts the request.

“We recognize the disruption this has caused to our driver-partners in both Nigeria and South Africa. Our priority remains providing a safe, secure, and reliable service for everyone,” said Yahaya Mohammed, Bolt’s country manager for Nigeria.

The trend, which started in South Africa and is labeled the “Request in Nigeria Challenge,” highlights the ongoing tensions between citizens of Nigeria and South Africa.

On August 22, 2024, screenshots of South Africans initiating fake Bolt rides in Nigeria went viral online.

In one now-deleted post on X, a South African farmer, Nimrod Ernest, shared a screenshot of a canceled ride, captioning it, “When I’m bored, I request in Nigeria, akere their brothers are disrespecting us.”

She said: “I noticed that most guys don’t care about satisfying their women. They care more about the satisfaction they get. And some men cum quick.

“Personally, it’s not difficult for me to cum. But I can cum fast if somebody dedicates their time. If you’re just having sex with me to please yourself, I’m not gingered but when I know that you dedicated your time to me but couldn’t satisfy me, I’m gingered.

“When there is a connection between us, it’s easier for me to cum. But most guys just want to satisfy themselves and once they cum that’s it. But some men even if they cum before you, they will make sure they satisfy you too.”
