BREAKING: Nigerian Troops Rescue 17 Kidnapped Victims In Kebbi Ambush
Responding promptly to a distress call in Kebbi state, the Quick Response Force (QRF) of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI rescued 17 kidnapped victims in Malekachi.
Notably, operational motorcycles were captured from the terrorists during the operation.
This feat was achieved at the dark hours on the 12 October 2023 when troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI deployed at Malekachi conducted a rescue operation following credible information that terrorists had kidnapped unspecified numbers of persons at Kanya village of Danko- Wasagu LGA of Kebbi state and trying to cross with the victims towards Niger state.
Troops rapidly mobilized, establishing an ambush at Karenbana village along the suspected routes and crossing points anticipated by the terrorists.
Through superior firepower, the troops compelled the terrorists to abandon their victims, fleeing with gunshot wounds. As a result, 17 kidnapped individuals were successfully rescued in the operation.
The 17 rescued victims, including 6 females, 11 males which includes a kidnapped police personnel from Danko-Wasagu, were safely handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Bena for reunification with their families.
Additionally, troops recovered 5 motorcycles found burnt at the scene.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, praised the troops for their prompt and effective response in the operation.
Mutkut charged the troops to maintain their efforts, denying terrorists any freedom of action.
He commended the people for providing timely information that facilitated the successful rescue and urged continued vigilance, encouraging swift reporting of any terrorist activities within their communities.
Retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest several months of unpaid pensions.
Coming from various state chapters, they voiced their frustration over the hardships they face due to PENCOM’s failure to pay their entitlements.
The retirees are calling on the Federal Government to exempt them from the contributory pension scheme.
In a video shared on social media platform X on Tuesday, the retirees were seen holding placards and chanting, “All we are saying, give us our right.”

Asma al-Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who bravely battled breast cancer in 2019, has been struck with another health challenge.
The president’s office revealed in a statement on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
The statement said, “First Lady Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.”

The Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has submitted a list of Commissioner nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nominees are scheduled to undergo the screening process today, overseen by Assembly members loyal to the Governor.

The screening is set to take place on Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hallowed Chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly, located in the Auditorium, Admin. Block, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
Nominees are required to bring twelve sets of their Curriculum Vitae (CV), along with the originals and photocopies of their credentials.
This process is a crucial step in the formation of the new executive council, which is expected to drive the administration’s agenda for development in Rivers State.
The Assembly’s prompt attention to the Governor’s nominees indicates a collaborative effort towards achieving the state’s developmental goals.
