BREAKING: Rescued 20 Medical Students To Be Released To Parents On Monday

The 20 Medical Students rescued through coordinated efforts from the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu will be released to their parents on Monday.

The United Kingdom Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) disclosed this in a statement on its verified handle on micro-blogging site, X, on Sunday.

It wrote, “Security agents successfully rescued 20 medical students and arrested two suspected kidnappers in a coordinated operation led by Nuhu Ribadu from Abuja. Using advanced technology, the kidnappers’ hideout was traced to Ajide Forest in the Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

“Upon locating the den, security forces surrounded it. During the standoff, the kidnappers attempted to use the students as human shields.

“However, a skilled police sniper neutralized one of the kidnappers with a precise shot to the head. The remaining two kidnappers, in a state of panic, tried to flee but were quickly apprehended by the officers positioned around the area.

“This operation demonstrates the capability of the Nigerian police force to execute their duties effectively.

“The 20 rescued students have been brought to Nuhu Ribadu and are currently undergoing medical examinations. They are expected to be released to their parents on Monday.”

Retired Sharia Court Judge Arraigned For Alleged Assault

A Magistrates’ Court in Zaria, Kaduna, arraigned retired Upper Sharia Court judge, Mahmud Shehu, on Tuesday for alleged trespass and assault.

Prosecutor Insp. Adamu Abubakar stated that Shehu was charged with offences contrary to sections 327, 237, and 239 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Garba Adda’u, reported that Shehu trespassed on his property on September 6, locked the door, and assaulted his visually impaired wife and her two aides with an umbrella.

The wife sustained injuries and was taken to PHC Tudun Wada for medical attention.

Shehu pleaded not guilty, and his counsel, SM Abubakar, applied for bail.

The prosecutor opposed the application, citing concerns for the complainant’s safety due to the defendant’s proximity.

Senior Magistrate Lukman Sidi granted Shehu bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, requiring the surety to own an international passport and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned until October 8 for hearing.

EFCC Arrests Fake NNPC Director For N100m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Ibrahim Shuaibu with fraud before Justice Darius Khobo at the Kaduna State High Court.

Shuaibu faces seven counts, including criminal breach of trust, impersonation, and obtaining by false pretenses, involving N100 million.

The EFCC announced the case in a statement released via it’s X account on Monday.

Shuaibu pleaded “not guilty” to all charges, leading prosecution counsel M. Lawal to request a trial date.

His defense attorney, AbdulKareem Audu, did not submit a bail application, prompting Justice Khobo to remand Shuaibu in EFCC custody.

The charges stem from an incident in 2017 when Shuaibu fraudulently claimed to be the Group Executive Director of NNPC, promising to help his victim acquire over 2,000 litres of petroleum products.

The victim made several payments to Shuaibu’s bank accounts, but Shuaibu failed to deliver the products or return the funds.

Count one of his charges reads, “That you, Nuhu Ibrahim Shuaibu (a.k.a Ishaku Abdulrazak) (M) and lIya Garba (now deceased) sometime in 2017 in Kaduna within the judicial division of this honourable court did conspire between yourselves to do an illegal act, to wit: obtaining money under false pretence and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

Another reads, “That you, Nuhu Ibrahim Shuaibu (a.k.a Ishaku Abdulrazak)(M) sometime in 2018 at Kaduna within the judicial division of this honourable court, with intent to defraud, obtained the total sum of N47,050,000.00 (Forty-Seven Million and Fifty Thousand Naira) from one Faisal Safiyanu, when you claimed to supply him petroleum products, which pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offenses Act 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

EFCC Arrests 44 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Kwara

Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have arrested 44 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations in Ilorin, Kwara State.

They were arrested on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Sango, Kulende, Taxaco and Harmony Estate, all in Ilorin,  following credible intelligence over their alleged involvement in internet-related offences.

The EFCC made the disclosure in a statement on its verified handle on micro-blogging site, X.

It also revealed that items recovered from them include 6 different brands of exotic cars, laptops, smartphones and charms.

It was gathered that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
