Candy Bleakz Reveals Losing YBNL Princess To Temmie Ovwasa

Published

on

Singer Candy Bleakz has opened up about a missed opportunity in her career, disclosing that she was on the verge of becoming the YBNL Princess in 2015 before losing out to Temmie Ovwasa.

During a recent appearance on the TV programme “Trending,” hosted by reality star KimOprah, Candy Bleakz expressed her disappointment at being passed over for the coveted role within the YBNL Nation record label.

She recounted the moment when label boss Olamide, popularly known as Baddo, introduced Temmie Ovwasa instead of her.

“The day Baddo unveiled Temmie Ovwasa, she is my friend but I was really sad. I was supposed to be the YBNL Princess. I was like, ‘Why did they sign someone else?'” she lamented.

In addition to discussing her missed opportunity, Candy Bleakz shed light on the challenges faced by female artists in Nigeria. She highlighted the societal pressure to conform to certain standards of beauty and sexuality, regardless of talent.

“For a female artist, when you’re pretty it’s a problem, when you’re ugly it’s a problem. When you’re too sexy it’s an issue and when you are not it’s an issue. Because I’m bringing something to the table but you will see comments like, ‘She’s not fine. She’s not dressing sexy. And at the same time, when she is fine they would want her to bring something to the table,” she expressed.

Candy Bleakz’s candid revelations provide insight into the complexities of navigating the music industry as a female artist in Nigeria, where talent often takes a backseat to superficial expectations.

Though Eloswag swiftly deleted the video, it had already caught the attention of the internet.

The explicit content quickly gained traction after being reposted by the controversial gossip blog, Gistlover, sparking widespread conversations across social media platforms.

In response to the incident, Eloswag took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration and consider possible legal action.

In a now-deleted post, he wrote, “I mistakenly posted a video on my Snapchat by 3am and deleted it immediately, guess who has the video? GISTLOVER? How? Please, can I sue? Because it doesn’t make sense.”

Eloswag’s predicament places him alongside other Nigerian celebrities who have dealt with similar scandals, such as Moyo Lawal, Tiwa Savage, Oxlade, and James Brown, whose private videos have previously surfaced online.
