Crackdown On Military Involvement In Oil Theft – N’Delta Stakeholder Tells Tinubu
A Niger Delta Monarch, Leaders and stakeholders from the Niger Delta region have united in their demand for a thorough internal cleansing within the nation’s security agencies.
They emphasize the importance of identifying and apprehending officers and personnel involved in crude oil banditry.
Instead of challenging a citizen who bravely spoke the bitter truth, they urge the security agencies to focus their efforts on uncovering the complicit individuals within their ranks.
Urge President Bola Tinubu to Provide Clear Directives to New Service Chiefs in Uncovering and Punishing Military Personnel Involved in Crude Oil Theft.
Following the recent appointment of new service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu, a collective request has been made by Niger Delta monarchs, leaders, and stakeholders.
They have urged the President to provide clear-cut directives to the newly appointed helmsmen, specifically emphasizing the need to expose and punish all military personnel engaged in crude oil theft.
In response to the Nigerian Navy’s demand for Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, the leader of the Niger-Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), to disclose the identities of military officers involved in oil bunkering, the stakeholders have expressed their concern.
They advise the security agencies not to underestimate the patience of the Niger Delta people, signaling their determination to hold the responsible individuals accountable.
Dokubo-Asari, during a visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, last week, disclosed that military officers were involved in crude oil bunkering in the oil region.
Akin to his Navy counterpart, the Nigerian Army Spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, also debunked the claim of military participation in oil bunkering, saying the army had intensified its battle against the oil thieves.
However, stakeholders, who spoke to Saturday Vanguard, during the week, insisted Dokubo-Asari should not mention any name publicly, and that security officials’ participation in oil bunkering was common knowledge in the creeks.
In support of Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari’s claims, Niger Delta stakeholders highlight that he is not the first to speak out against the involvement of military officers in crude oil theft.
They draw attention to the previous disclosures made by Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, an ex-militant leader.
They stated that Tompolo who currently operates Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), one of the private surveillance contractors responsible for monitoring the nation’s oil pipelines, has made similar revelations in the past
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the successful relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV transmission towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV transmission line, bringing relief to residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This development, completed three days past the scheduled deadline, has also restored full bulk power to the 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation, enabling the resumption of normal power distribution in the area.
In a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the company explained that the relocation became necessary due to the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) road dualization project along the Southern Expressway.

The relocation work began on January 6, 2025, and involved dismantling and reconstructing the affected towers, as well as restringing power cables to ensure uninterrupted power flow.
To facilitate this, a planned power outage was implemented from January 6 to January 20, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria is pleased to announce the restoration of full bulk power to its 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation, effective Thursday, January 23, 2025,” the statement read.
“This restoration follows the successful relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line (Southern Expressway route), necessitated by the Federal Capital Development Agency’s road dualization project along the Apo axis.”
TCN thanked residents and electricity consumers for their patience during the period of power rationing, noting that Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) can now resume normal electricity supply to customers in the affected areas.

“I was just looking at the numbers of people surrounding Davido the day I sat with him, I was just seeing how people were ready to be killed just to get to him. He is an elder. Davido’s father is a billionaire that has been doing big things before the singer’s arrival. His father is rich but not as Davido. If his dad is passing by, you might not recognise him, but if Davido passes here, a stampede will happen.”
