Deadly Accident Strikes Anambra, Leaving Multiple Fatalities
Tragedy struck in the early hours of Friday at Odumodu Junction in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, along Awka road, Anambra State.
A fatal accident occurred, resulting in the loss of five lives, all women. Additionally, two men and two women sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident.
The vehicles involved were a Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration number XE245AWK and a commercial Daf/Leyland truck with number plate T-19094LA.
The accident, which occurred around 7:30 am on Friday, remains shrouded in mystery as the identities of the two drivers involved remain undisclosed.
Preliminary investigations point to a failed section of the road as the root cause of the tragic incident.
According to an eyewitness, “one of the vehicles was going towards Awka while the other was heading to Onitsha but they got to the bad spot at the same time and due to the weight of the truck, the container fell on the bus and crushed it killing the passengers while others were rescued by people around with the help of men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.
“Ten people comprising three male adults, and seven female adults were involved in the crash. Five female adults were killed. Two men and two women sustained injuries, while one man was rescued unhurt.
“We must commend men of FRSC rescue team from Nteje for their timely intervention in rescuing the wounded victims, just as their swiftness in taking the injured victims to Divine Care Hospital, Umunya for medical attention helped the victims.
The corpses of the deceased were taken to New Jerusalem Mortuary, Nteje, after they were confirmed dead by doctors at Chira Hospital.” he added.
In response to the incident, RC Margaret B. Onabe, the Acting Sector Public Education Officer for Anambra State, issued a statement.
She reported that Mr. Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander of Anambra State Corps, is working in conjunction with the Unit Commander in Nteje to clear the obstruction resulting from the crash.

The Senior Pastor of Freedom Life International Christian Center, Richard Tochukwu, has declared that gospel music possesses the spiritual capacity to transform Nigeria, describing it as a divine instrument capable of restoring hope and unity in the nation.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists, the cleric said music inspired by God’s Word can positively influence Nigeria’s spiritual and socio-political landscape by promoting peace, comfort and moral revival.
According to him, gospel music goes beyond entertainment and should be seen as a ministry tool for national healing.

“Gospel music is not just sound; it carries power. When songs are inspired by Scripture, they can heal hearts, restore faith and redirect a nation toward righteousness,” he said.
Pastor Tochukwu made the remarks while discussing his latest worship single, “I Want To Pray,” a spiritually reflective song produced by Audio5.
He explained that the track was created to encourage believers to remain steadfast in prayer and maintain consistent fellowship with God.
The song draws inspiration from Luke 18:1, which urges believers to pray always and not lose heart.
A spiritual son of Paul Enenche, Pastor Tochukwu revealed that most of his songs are birthed from deep study of Scripture.
“Sometimes while studying or preaching from a passage, a melody begins to flow. The lyrics are drawn directly from the Word. Our songs are intentional; they carry the same message we preach,” he explained.
Reflecting on his journey, he recounted beginning as a drummer who also sang before discovering what he described as a divine instruction to minister through music.
“I realised that you don’t minister only through preaching. God made me understand that songs are another channel through which His Word can reach people. Every release is backed by Scripture,” he added.
Pastor Tochukwu currently serves in Lagos, combining pastoral leadership with music ministry.
