Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Fani Kayode has expressed his support for the appointment of retired police officer, Nuhu Ribadu for the position of National Security Adviser (NSA).

Recall that Tinubu appointed Nuhu Ribadu, a retired police officer and former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as Nigeria’s new National Security Adviser (NSA) on Saturday.

In a tweet one Sunday, Fani Kayode refuted the notion that only military personnel were suitable for the role and highlighted the successes of past retired police and intelligence officers who had held the esteemed position.

Prominent among the individuals he mentioned were Umaru Shinkafi, Gambo Jimeta, and Ismaila Gwarzo, all of whom had made significant contributions as NSAs in the country’s history.

The post reads “Those that say only a military man can handle the position of NSA are ignorant. Amongst the best that held that position in our history were retired police and/or intelligence officers such as Umaru Shinkafi, Gambo Jimeta and Ismaila Gwarzo.

“I have no doubt that my brother Nuhu Ribadu, who is a retired police officer, once confirmed as NSA, will acquit himself well and follow in the footsteps of these three reverred men.” The tweet added.
