Galatasaray’s €65m Osimhen Bid Turned Down By Napoli

A €65 million bid from Galatasaray for the services of Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has been pushed back by Napoli.

Osimhen is on loan at the Turkish giants and the bid is their effort to make his stay permanent and take full ownership of the contract.

The push back from the Italian side, Napoli, could be traded to their valuation of the striker, put at his €75m release clause, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Recall that the 26-year-old joined Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season without an option to buy.

However, the loan deal confers an advantage on the Turkish club because of a compensation clause in the agreement.

It was gathered that the €6m compensation due to Galatasaray would raise Osimhen’s release clause to €81m for other clubs during the winter transfer window.

Biztellers reports that as at the last transfer window, Osimhen’s release clause was set at €130m but was reviewed downwards as part the loan deal which took him from Napoli to Galatasaray last summer.

The Nigeria international has been in scintillating form for the Turkish leaders, netting 16 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances since his loan move.

In December, Osimhen publicly committed to seeing out his loan spell at Galatasaray, telling reporters, “I will not leave in January, I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season.

“I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterwards, but if they come to me, we will talk.”

The Nigerian international’s football skyrocketed on the back of a stellar 2022/23 season with Napoli, during which he scored 26 goals to win the Serie A Golden Boot and help the Partenopei claim their first league title in over three decades.
