Good Governance: Babayemi Is A Frustrated Politician, Out To Use Osun People For Selfish Agenda– Governor Adeleke
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has carpeted a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Dotun Babayemi, over his comment on the governance of the state, accusing him of playing up a wrong narrative about the state.
Governor Adeleke who described the action of Babayemi as a theatrics of a frustrated politician, said the erstwhile PDP member has shown clearly to Osun people that he is an instrument in the hands of people who in the past dragged the state into bad governance.
The Governor called Osun people to be alert to the antics of cheap characters willing to sacrifice the general interest for their greed, noting that the observation of Babayemi on good governance in Osun is not only flawed, but exposed him as a sponsored agent out to destabilize the state by collaborating with men and women who dragged Osun the mess the.present government is clearing.
From the time that Governor Adeleke assumed office, Osun people can see a clear commitment to fixing the damages of the past and bringing about a refreshing experience,” the statement noted.
Contrary to the fallacy advanced by Babayemi, Osun people are enjoying good governance under the administration of Ademola Adeleke.
If Babayemi is too frustrated to see this, we like to refer him to the fact that Governor Adeleke is the one who cash backed the workers’ promotion his sponsor now failed to pay while in office.
It is also this same Adeleke administration that is paying half-salary debt owed by Babayemi’s paymasters.
The Adeleke administration enrolled the entire retirees in Osun on a health insurance scheme, the first and only state in the whole of Nigeria to do so.
This same Adeleke administration, through the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, has been able to provide free healthcare service to over 50,000 people in Osun. It has constructed 90 km of roads and is still counting, rehabilitated 31 public schools across Osun state and sank boreholes in each of the 332 wards in the state. The list of the administration service to Osun people in the last one year is inexhaustible.
“So, what exactly does Babayemi mean by good governance because every available index showed that the Adeleke administration is doing excellently well in that regard. Babayemi and his co-travellers must wake up to the reality of Governor Adeleke’s unbending commitment to impacting the lives of the people.
The Osun people cannot but be shocked by the theatrics of political leeches as Governor Adeleke is resolute more than ever to deliver for them as manifested in the ambitious multi-billion infrastructure plan. Work has commenced already and the administration will continue to work in line with available resources for the good of the people.
Governor Adeleke cautioned Babayemi and his ilks over their anti-people posture, warning that the Government will not fold its hand for him and his backers to derail the peace and progress the state is enjoying at the moment.
“Only a terrible politician will attribute the current hardship in the whole of Nigeria to a PDP government in Osun state. It is public knowledge that fuel subsidy removal, naira devaluation and high inflation are the critical factors responsible for the hardship in the country. The question for Babayemi and his crew of jesters is, how any of the above highlighted factors should be blamed on a sub-national government?
“It is obvious that Babayemi does not have any inkling of knowledge about the office he struggled so hard to occupy but failed or he is just mischievous as usual. From the time that fuel subsidy was removed and now, the Osun Government has distributed bags of rice through stakeholders on three different occasions, totalling over 14,000 bags. Last week, the Adeleke administration announced a wage award of N15,000 for civil servants and N10,000 for pensioners in spite of the commitment to pay the humongous wage debt left behind by Babayemi’s new found friend.
“We have no issue with people who don’t have conscience and think manipulating the poor Osun people is how they could fund their greed, but as a government, we owe the people a duty to confront any attempt to throw our state into crisis and the people in needless confusion.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that it has withdrawn the list of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the reports as rumours.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the clarification on Tuesday following reports that the ruling party had withdrawn the campaign council list recently released as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Morka, while speaking with TheCable, said there was no basis for the reports, stressing that the party would formally announce any changes to the campaign council list.
“It’s rumour. If there is any change to the list, it will be formally announced,” he said.
The controversy followed reactions to the composition of the campaign council, with some APC members and stakeholders expressing concerns over the inclusion or exclusion of certain party figures.
The development subsequently fuelled speculation that the party could alter the composition of its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, Morka’s latest statement indicates that the APC has not officially withdrawn the list.
He further maintained that any adjustment to the campaign council would be communicated through the appropriate channels of the party.
President Bola Tinubu is seeking re-election in the 2027 presidential election, with the APC already putting structures in place ahead of the polls.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called for greater scrutiny of politicians seeking to lead Nigeria in the 2027 general elections, saying the presentation of academic certificates should not be the only consideration when assessing candidates.
The ACF Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Baba, made the call while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday.
Baba said Nigerians have the right to examine the educational background, antecedents, integrity and personal history of anyone seeking the country’s highest political office.

He said the debate over candidates’ academic qualifications should go beyond the presentation of certificates and focus on whether their personal histories are credible, consistent and transparent.
“If you are presenting yourself for election to the highest office in Nigeria, holding lives together, being the Commander-in-Chief, it is legitimate to ask questions,” Baba said.
He added that Nigerians deserve to know the background of those seeking their votes, stressing that leadership requires transparency and accountability.
“The certificate is not as important as the story itself. It has to be straight. It has to be consistent. If it is not, there is a problem,” he said.
Although Baba acknowledged that the 1999 Constitution does not specifically require presidential candidates to present documentary evidence of every stage of their education, he maintained that questions about candidates’ backgrounds should not simply be dismissed.
“The law is clear, but I want to move away from focusing just on the qualification. You see here, we practise a brand of politics that is different from all those countries you listed,” he said.
The ACF spokesman cited China as an example of a system where aspiring leaders undergo years of scrutiny before reaching top leadership positions.
“In China, you cannot just come from nowhere. You start from the very word and you climb. They have a very leadership selection process that you go through many years before you get to that point,” Baba said.
“By the time you get to the point of leadership, everything is known about you. Everything is scrutinised.”
Baba also criticised Nigeria’s political system, saying standards are often compromised because citizens do not demand sufficient accountability from political actors.
“We are simply flexible in our demands for accountability. There are no standards, and there are no standards because we do not demand standards,” he said.
However, he noted that beyond candidates’ certificates and backgrounds, Nigerians are primarily interested in the impact of governance on their everyday lives.
“What matters to them is the effect of good governance,” Baba said.
He explained that voters want leaders capable of improving healthcare, education, housing, transportation and household welfare.
“At the end of the day, what goes into my pocket? How is my family protected? Would my wife go to the hospital and expect service? Would my children receive quality education?” he asked.
Baba therefore urged political actors to embrace transparency ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that Nigerians deserve to know the people seeking their votes.
The All Progressives Congress has recorded a clean sweep in the Ebonyi State local government elections, winning all 13 chairmanship and 171 councillorship seats contested in the poll.
The results were announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, Patrick Enyi, at the commission’s office on Onwe Road, Abakaliki.
Among the winners was Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who emerged chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Other candidates declared winners include Peace Agwu for Ishielu, Paul Ituma for Ohaukwu, Friday Nwuhuo for Ezza North, Chinedu Mkpuma for Ezza South, Chidi Nwode for Ikwo and Timothy Nwachi for Afikpo.
Also declared winners were Ikechukwu Ogbofia for Onicha, Michael Kalu Anyim for Ivo, Simeon Onuoha for Edda, Helen Aduga for Izzi, Chidiebere Alo for Abakaliki and Chibueze Odigwe for Ebonyi Local Government Area.
Enyi described the election as peaceful, free and fair, noting that other political parties participated in the exercise.
He commended voters for turning out to exercise their constitutional rights and appreciated security agencies for providing support throughout the election.
Speaking after his declaration, Umahi commended EBSIEC for what he described as the transparent and peaceful conduct of the election.
He pledged to prioritise rural development, youth empowerment and agricultural transformation during his tenure as chairman.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the party’s sweeping victory as an indication of its dominance in the state.
Emegha said the outcome also demonstrated what he described as the growing acceptance of the APC across Ebonyi, expressing confidence that the party would record another victory in the 2027 general elections.
