‘I’m Back Now’ – Tyson Fury Announces Shock Return To Boxing
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced a dramatic return to professional boxing, 12 months after declaring his retirement from the sport.
The 37-year-old British boxer made the announcement on Sunday via his Instagram page, revealing that 2026 will mark his return to the ring after a year-long absence.
“2026 is that year. Return of the mac. Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching,” Fury wrote, adding that he was eager to resume his career.

Fury last fought in December 2024, when he suffered defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in a bout for three of the four major world heavyweight titles.
The loss marked the first defeats of Fury’s professional career, with Usyk becoming the only boxer to beat the self-styled Gypsy King.
Despite insisting he was done with boxing, Fury’s retirement was greeted with scepticism, given his history of stepping away from the sport only to reverse his decision.
He previously announced his retirement after defeating Dillian Whyte in April 2022, but returned later that year.
Speculation about another comeback had been growing in recent weeks after Fury shared several training videos on social media during the festive period, suggesting he was keeping himself in fighting shape.
The British heavyweight has also been repeatedly linked with a long-awaited all-British showdown against Anthony Joshua, another former two-time world heavyweight champion.
Talks for the fight date back to 2021 but were derailed by contractual disputes and court rulings.
However, uncertainty now surrounds the potential clash following a recent car crash in Nigeria that left Joshua injured and claimed the lives of two close associates, a development that could delay any immediate return to the ring for the 36-year-old.
If Joshua is unavailable, Fury may pursue a trilogy fight against Usyk or target WBO champion Fabio Wardley.
Victory in either bout would see Fury join boxing legend Muhammad Ali as a three-time world heavyweight champion.

The goalkeeper was sent off following the incident, while the match was subsequently abandoned.
Spanish media reported that De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest after the collision and was resuscitated. However, Tenerife later announced that his neurological condition had deteriorated before he eventually died.

“I am so deeply sorry. Rest in peace, Jesus,” Pique wrote on social media.
FC Andorra also expressed its condolences to De Miguel’s family, teammates and Tenerife, while Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and several other Spanish clubs sent messages of sympathy.

The delegation, led by Emeruwa, was expected to assess facilities in Lagos and Abuja as part of efforts to evaluate the country’s readiness to host the two events.
The inspection also followed an earlier visit by CAF officials in August, when Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in Lagos’s readiness to host the awards after a delegation inspected the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Theatre, in Iganmu.
The 2026 CAF Awards are scheduled to hold in Lagos on December 7, while Abuja is expected to host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on November 21.
