Lagos Husband Murders Wife Over Choice Meal
In the Olota area of Lagos’ Alimosho Local Government Area, an unidentified husband has killed his wife due to her not preparing his desired meal last Thursday.
The conflict arose when the husband, returning from work, found that his wife had only made noodles instead of his favorite dish.
Consequently, an anonymous eyewitness, fearing intimidation, shared that the accused individual left the deceased at home following an alleged assault involving a blow to her head and severe beating.
The source mentioned that a neighbor had to contact the husband upon witnessing the wife’s convulsions.
It was discovered that despite attempts by the husband and neighbors to swiftly transport the convulsing wife to the hospital, their efforts were in vain as she reportedly passed away en route.
While a police source mentioned the suspect’s arrest by the Lagos State Police Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had not confirmed this at the time of the report.
Regarding the incident, a source at the Meiran Police Division stated that the suspect was apprehended after the deceased victim’s brother reported the matter to the station.
The source said, “It was the brother of the deceased who came to report the matter. He said the husband killed his sister.
“However, nobody has come forward to tell us that it was her husband who killed her. We have arrested the husband. The matter has already been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.”
On whether there was an indication that it was the husband that killed the wife, the police source said it was difficult to tell as they suspected the family had buried the deceased.
The source said “There is no indication yet, but we cannot say that we stop investigation. We will allow justice to prevail and the district unit to perform its duties to know if it was the husband who beat her to death as claimed.
“When we got there, none of the neighbours was willing to give us viable information concerning this. It happened on Thursday. Up to this morning, before we transferred the matter to Panti, nobody had come out to attest to the claim or the cause of death.
“We didn’t see the woman. Before they could report to us, the family had already gone to bury her according to Islamic rites. The father of the deceased even came to the police station and said he had forgiven the son-in-law, even if the claim was true.
“But the brother of the deceased insisted that it was the husband who killed his sister (wife). He said he hit his wife with an object and left her inside their apartment. He said it was the neighbour who called to tell him that the wife was convulsing. She died before they could rush her to the hospital.” the source added
Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, along with his daughter and two others, have been slated for arraignment today (thursday) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
They face charges related to an alleged N2.7 billion fraud linked to the failed Nigerian Air project.
The proceedings are set to unfold before Justice Sylvanus Oriji at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
The charges, based on court documents, accuse Sirika of granting undue advantage to certain entities in Abuja between April 2022 and March 2023.
The anti-graft agency has accused Sirika of misusing his authority by awarding a N1.3 billion consultancy contract for the Nigerian Air Start-up to Tianero Nigeria Limited.
This alleged action is said to contravene Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
In a separate charge, the EFCC alleges that on or around August 18, 2022, in Abuja, Sirika utilized on or about August 18, 2022 ia, Sirika “did use your position to confer unfair advantage upon Al Buraq Global Investment Limited, whose alter ego, Fatima Hadi Sirika and Jalal Sule Hamma are your daughter and son-in-law respectively, by using your position to influence the award to them, the contract for the Apron Extension at Katsina Airport for the sum of N1.498,300,750.00.”
The anti-graft agency asserted that Sirika’s actions amounted to a violation of Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, rendering him liable to punishment under the same section.
In count three, the EFCC accused Sirika of criminal breach of trust “while serving as the Minister of Aviation and in his capacity as a public officer” on or around August 18, 2022, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the court.
In late April, the former aviation minister was taken into custody by the anti-graft agency and interrogated for several days.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with renowned barman, Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest, regarding charges of naira abuse.
This development surfaced during the latest court proceedings presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare.
Cubana Chief Priest has been facing a three-count-charge related to the misuse of the national currency at a social gathering, a violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
