Man Utd CEO, Richard Arnold Resigns
In a recent development, Manchester United’s chief executive, Richard Arnold, has officially resigned.
His departure from Old Trafford, confirmed on Wednesday afternoon, coincides with speculation about a potential £1.3 billion investment by Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a 25% stake in the club.
At 52, Richard Arnold, who had been with Manchester United since 2007 and served as the club’s managing director from 2013, assumed the role of chief executive in February 2022, succeeding Ed Woodward.
Board member Patrick Stewart has been appointed interim chief executive.
Arnold played a pivotal role, overseeing the appointment of Erik ten Hag in 2022, leading to United’s triumph in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle with a 2-0 win, marking their first trophy in six years.
The 2023/24 season has seen Manchester United struggle, with a less than impressive start—losing five out of 12 Premier League games and three out of four UEFA Champions League matches.
Arnold said “It has been an incredible privilege to serve this great football club for the past 16 years.
“Through highs and lows, the constant has been the dedication of our employees and fans. I would like to thank all of them for their loyalty and commitment, and wish everyone associated with the club the very best for the future,” he added.
