Autopsy results for the late singer Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, are anticipated to be concluded within the next three to four weeks.

Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, disclosed this information while providing testimony during a coroner’s inquest into the musician’s demise. Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, triggering widespread debates nationally and internationally.

Consequently, the Lagos State Government initiated a coroner’s inquest to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The inquest, which commenced on October 13, 2023, is currently ongoing at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.

During his testimony, Dr. Somiari informed Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, the Coroner overseeing the proceedings, that the initial autopsy findings are expected within the specified timeframe.

He emphasised the thoroughness of the investigation, stating, “We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.” Furthermore, Dr. Somiari assured the public of stringent security measures in place to safeguard the integrity of the autopsy samples.

“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he affirmed. With the anticipation of the autopsy results, stakeholders await further clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely passing.

Published

on

Yul Edochie, a prominent Nigerian actor and film producer, has explained his absence from the funeral of fellow actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope.

Edochie revealed that he refrained from attending due to alleged repeated betrayals by the deceased during his lifetime.

Odonwodo, who tragically lost his life at the age of 43 in a boat accident on April 10, was laid to rest last Friday in Enugu State.

Edochie addressed the matter on his Facebook page on Tuesday, explaining that he had chosen to keep silent about their relationship until persistent inquiries from fans prompted him to speak out.

He wrote, “I didn’t want to say anything till after his burial. I know many asked why I wasn’t there. I took him like a brother and good friend.

“I was there for him when needed me. But he stabbed me in the back, repeatedly. That’s Life.”

Following Yul Edochie’s revelations, netizens have linked his statements to a recent photo depicting his estranged wife, May Edochie, alongside the widow of the deceased during a condolence visit.

This connection has stirred diverse reactions online, with many questioning the timing of Yul’s disclosure.

Despite the speculation, Yul has hinted that he intends to disclose further details at a later time.

He added, “I’ll drop the full details soon so others can learn from it. Be careful what you wish people, it could come to you.”
