Mohbad Started Vomiting After Taking Injection, Mohbad’s DJ Testifies In Court
DJ Ajisegiri Ayobami, the Disc Jockey for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad, informed the Coroner’s Inquest probing the artist’s death that MohBad began vomiting following an injection administered by a nurse.
Ayobami, who was reportedly present with MohBad at the time of his death, testified before the coroner court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Wednesday. The DJ stated that the singer vomited the noodles prepared for him by MohBad’s brother, Adura Aloba.
The witness also confirmed the details provided by the police regarding the sequence of events leading up to the singer’s death.
Ayobami explained that after a show in Ikorodu on Sunday, their Prado Jeep was blocked on the way back, leading to a confrontation where MohBad, attempting to fight his friend Primeboy, injured his hand.
According to Ayobami, the wound started as a small cut, but by midnight when they reached home, the hand was visibly swollen. Despite attempts to reach MohBad’s personal nurse, she was unavailable.
Following the incident, team member called Spending mentioned having a nurse, who was then called to attend to MohBad.
The DJ stated that MohBad was in good condition before the nurse arrived, but after receiving the injection, he had fallen asleep. Later, MohBad collapsed on the floor, vomiting the Indomie Noodles he had consumed, and exhibiting goosebumps on his body.
Ayobami said, “The nurse said we should go and get him drugs; while we were at the pharmacy, I called the house to know how he was feeling, and they said I should come back.
“When I got back, they were already outside trying to put him in a neighbour’s car to get him to the hospital, but the way I saw him, he was lifeless, his eyes were closed, and his hands were falling.
“While we were going to the hospital, there was traffic, so I came down from the other vehicle and ran to the hospital; I asked them if they had an ambulance, and they said no. Before I could get back to them, I saw them bringing Mohbad on a bike, and when we got to the hospital he was confirmed dead.” he added
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, known by his stage name Portable, has sparked controversy by accusing fellow artist Davido of exploiting their recent dinner meeting in the United States for publicity rather than fostering a musical collaboration or providing financial support.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Portable lamented that despite their dinner invitation, Davido did not extend a verse or financial assistance, alleging that he was used merely to generate attention.
Portable said, “Davido ripped me, you invited me out for a dinner in America, but you didn’t give me a verse or money, you just used me to trend. You should have given me at least $10,000”
The rift between the two artists emerged after Portable publicly criticized Davido for offering what he described as “bad advice” during their encounter.
Following Portable’s public criticism, Davido responded by unfollowing him on Instagram.
In turn, Portable, the ‘Zazu’ crooner, reciprocated by unfollowing Davido as well.
The hit song “Calm Down,” by well-known Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, often known as Rema, has become the first African song to reach one billion on-demand streams in the US.
In the United States, “Calm Down” has amassed over 1 billion on-demand streams, according to TAmerican Music Stats Company, Chart Data.
“REMA’s “Calm Down” becomes the first Afrobeats song in history to earn over 1 billion on-demand streams in the US,” Chart Data tweeted.
The “Calm Down remix” featuring Selena Gomez became the first African song to reach the billion mark on Spotify in August of last year.
The first number one song on the world’s first regional streaming chart, MENA, was officially certified by Guinness World Records as being the original version of “Calm Down.”
Media celebrity, Toke Makinwa has harshly denounced the long-standing practice of identifying people with tribal markings, describing it as cruel to minors without their consent.
On Sunday, Makinwa announced this through a number of postings on her X account. The media star thought back on the long-standing custom after recalling a recent encounter with an influencer who had tribal markings.
She wrote, “Today I saw a beautiful influencer with tribal marks and it made me think about the cruelty that culture brought upon us. Marking a child without his/her consent as a means of identification is Evil, I know our parents didn’t know any better but damnnnn!!!!”
In her subsequent posts, she highlighted that even though she admires the beauty of people with tribal marks, her concern centres around the absence of consent when marking children for identification.
“Thank God it’s abolished now. My grandma had tribal marks too.
“Some on her face and her arms, I wonder what life was like when she was younger walking around with it, though I’m sure a lot of people around her had the same but thank God it’s cancelled now,” she continued.
Following heavy backlash from some X users, Makinwa explained in another post, that her disapproval was due to the lack of consent involved and not the beauty of the marks.
“It’s not the beauty or lack of but the lack of consent. But yeah, I’ve seen a couple of beautiful people with tribal marks,” she explained.
