Nigeria Technically At Peace But Worse Than Countries At War – Ex-Aviation Minister

Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has warned that Nigeria, though not officially at war, is manifesting conditions far worse than those found in conflict-ridden countries.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Chidoka drew comparisons between Nigeria’s current security situation and the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Syria.

“From the data, it’s about more than a civil war. If you look at the number of people killed in Gaza, Syria, and in other conflicts around the world, you will see that Nigeria, though at peace, technically at peace, is showing symptoms far deeper than countries at war,” he said.

The former minister, together with other well-known Nigerians from political, civil society, and regional groups, recently signed an open letter which described the nation as “bleeding.”

Explaining the motivation behind the intervention, Chidoka said it was born out of growing hopelessness and declining trust in governance.
