Portable Laments $50k Music Video Bill From TG Omori

Nigerian street singer, Portable, has spoken out against music director, TG Omori, after the latter billed him $50,000 for a music video shoot.

A screenshot of a private chat between the two surfaced on social media, in which Portable expresses shock at the high cost and jokingly suggests “money rituals” as a means of obtaining the funds.

This is not the first time Omori’s rates have been met with protest, as fellow musician Blaqbonez also spoke out against the director in 2022 for charging $30,000.

Despite the backlash, Omori has a reputable track record, having directed numerous successful music videos for artists such as Naira Marley and Olamide & Wizkid.

I’m The Only Artist Nigerians Listen To For 2 Hours – Brymo Boasts

Published

on

Renowned Nigerian artist Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, widely recognized as Brymo, has boldly claims that his music uniquely captivates listeners for a remarkable two-hour duration.

This assertion emerged during an exclusive interview with Chude Jideonwo, host of the widely-followed #WithChude weekly interview series on X.

A snippet of this compelling conversation was released online on Friday, sparking considerable interest among fans and music enthusiasts alike.

He said “There’s no Nigerian artiste alive or dead, that people can sit down and listen to for two straight hours that is not Brymo.

“Every famous Nigerian artiste today who thinks they are made – they are all wrong. Most of them don’t even own their works.”

The host announced via Twitter that the complete interview will premiere on YouTube on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Brymo, a former signee of the ‘Choc City’ record label, ignited a storm of controversy with a revealing voice note shared on X.

In the recording, he admitted to soliciting a sexual relationship from fellow singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, in exchange for a music collaboration.

Simi’s husband, singer Adekunle Gold, responded strongly, cautioning Brymo to “stay away” from his wife and cease “disrespecting” their family.

Despite the backlash, Brymo defended his actions in an interview with TVC, characterizing his advances towards the female artist as “an artistic pursuit.”

Brymo said, “One day I was somewhere and I met Adekunle Gold, I was just like, ‘Oh! Gold.’ The first time I was ever meeting him. And he requested a collaboration… When he came to me, I just said flatly, ‘Oga, I’m not doing any collaboration right now.’

“Two weeks after, Simi came. I didn’t know they [Simi and Adekunle Gold were together]. I’m sure you all know about Falz. He took the fall that I was supposed to take. I was the target… But I’m a smart guy.

“When I saw her [Simi], I said no features except I am laying with the woman I am working with so it can be intense. Did she not sleep with Adekunle Gold? Is that not why the music is extra good? But she said no, and I was like okay, bye-bye and then she left.”

“she wasn’t the only one I proposed it to. But guess what? I’ve made music with seven women. I didn’t sleep with anyone of them.

“After that incident, I’ve recorded songs with four women. We didn’t even have that [sexual] conversation at all. We just made music. So, it wasn’t about me asking for sex for collaboration. No, no, it wasn’t about that. For me, it was an artistic pursuit.”

In response to Brymo’s remarks, Simi addressed the issue in an interview with media personality Angela Yee on her show “Way Up.”

Expressing her bewilderment, Simi questioned the motives behind Brymo and Samuel Oguachuba’s, also known as Samklef, comments.
