Rivers State Crisis – Wike, Fubara Convene At State House Function
Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, convened at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday morning for the Police Council meeting, where 36 state governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were in attendance.
Despite tensions back in Rivers State House of Assembly over an impeachment move against the governor, both leaders displayed a moment of unity by shaking hands before the meeting commenced.
Recall that recent events in Rivers State gained attention after 24 members of the House of Assembly sought to impeach Governor Fubara, causing turmoil on Monday with the governor’s supporters protesting at the Assembly complex.
Accusations have surfaced, blaming FCT Minister Wike for allegedly instigating the crisis, citing a perceived failure to guide Governor Fubara.

“It is only well with the glutinous political class,” he added.
Rufai concluded his post with a direct appeal to the President.
“Nigerians are suffering, President Tinubu heal Nigeria,” he wrote.
His comments came after Tinubu, in his Independence Day address, defended his administration’s economic reforms and outlined measures aimed at moving Nigeria from what he described as an era of reform into an era of prosperity.

He said listening to the President gave Nigerians the impression that the country’s “ship of state is in sound hands.”
Omokri said Tinubu also reported on the achievements of his administration, particularly in the economy.
He listed infrastructure, the non-oil sector, Foreign Direct Investment, trade surpluses and higher foreign reserves among the areas he said Nigerians had seen gains under the administration.
He further highlighted Tinubu’s statement that his administration had ensured uninterrupted payment of salaries and pensions at the federal, state and local government levels.
However, Omokri said the President’s vision goes beyond managing poverty.
“His vision is, however, to defeat poverty, not manage it,” he wrote.
Omokri said he was particularly encouraged by the President’s broadcast, adding that it made him proud of Nigeria at 66.
“After watching this broadcast, I am proud of Nigeria at 66 years,” he stated.
He congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary and prayed for God’s blessings upon the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Omokri added.
