Senate Orders IGP To Present CAC Chief In 24 Hours
The Senate has directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, appears before the Senate Committee on Finance within 24 hours.
Citing section 89, subsection 2, Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance on Wednesday, utilized his authority during the budget defense session to demand the appearance of the Registrar-General due to discrepancies in revenue generation and spending at the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Despite prior shortcomings noted during the MTEF/FP defense, Senator Musa emphasized that the Registrar-General has disregarded the committee’s summons for the third time, deeming this behavior disrespectful.
He stated, ‘You have your book keepers; you have your records and we asked you to go and tidy up and report back, but you never did.”
The committee reached a unanimous decision that the Inspector General of Police must ensure the Registrar-General’s appearance before the finance committee without fail on Thursday.
