Tinubu ‘Falls Wike’s Hand’

The political intrigues leading up to the swearing-in of the president elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has turned a controversial leaf in Rivers State.

Tinubu was seen in a short video clip on Channels TV, declaring that he would be his own man, rule on his own terms and not lean on the hands of other politicians who staked high to get him elected.

The former governor of Lagos State, addressing Governor Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, clearly put the Rivers State governor in his place.

Tinubu said, “the flyover, the one you meant for refund, I owe nothing. It’s your own. You can’t tackle me. You are the ones living on these roads. I commend your efforts. You have to lobby me to collect.”

Political pundits aver that Tinubu is putting his feet down before Wike might ruffle feathers as the Rivers State governor is not known to shy away from political brickbats.

This might not be far from the truth as Tinubu also said, “…I’ll leave (Babajide) Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State governor) to give you back your banter and response. I am the president elect, your president.”

Political watchers interpret these statements as Tinubu’s way of explaining to Wike that shoe has size and that he should not imagine that delivering Rivers State meant having the president by the jugular.
