Tinubu Inaugurates NNPCL’s Board, Management
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has inaugurated the management and Board of Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).
The President officiated the inauguration of the Board on Monday, within the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Previously, the President had authorized the appointment of a fresh Board and Management for the NNPC Ltd, slated to commence duties from December 1, 2023.
This decision, as per a statement in November by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, aligns with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
President Tinubu expects thorough adherence to the performance-based approach of his administration, aiming to implement an energy policy that maximizes the utilization of existing oil and gas resources.
The President emphasized that this policy would facilitate the exploration of new, cleaner energy sources in the future, championed by this esteemed team.

1. Chief Pius Akinyelure — Non-Executive Board Chairman
2. Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari — Group Chief Executive Officer
3. Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya — Chief Financial Officer
4. Mr. Ledum Mitee — Non-Executive Director
5. Mr. Musa Tumsa — Non-Executive Director
6. Mr. Ghali Muhammad — Non-Executive Director
7. Prof. Mustapha Aliyu — Non-Executive Director
8. Mr. David Ogbodo — Non-Executive Director
9. Ms. Eunice Thomas — Non-Executive Director
Retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest several months of unpaid pensions.
Coming from various state chapters, they voiced their frustration over the hardships they face due to PENCOM’s failure to pay their entitlements.
The retirees are calling on the Federal Government to exempt them from the contributory pension scheme.
In a video shared on social media platform X on Tuesday, the retirees were seen holding placards and chanting, “All we are saying, give us our right.”

Asma al-Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who bravely battled breast cancer in 2019, has been struck with another health challenge.
The president’s office revealed in a statement on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
The statement said, “First Lady Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.”

The Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has submitted a list of Commissioner nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nominees are scheduled to undergo the screening process today, overseen by Assembly members loyal to the Governor.
In a public announcement, the Assembly invited the following individuals for screening and potential confirmation as members of the Rivers State Executive Council: Hon. Prince Charles O. Bekee, Mr. Collins N. Onunwo, Hon. Solomon Eke, Sir. Dr. Peter N. Medee, Hon. Elloka Tasie Amadi, Hon. Basoene Joshua Benibo, Mr. Tambari Sydney Gbara, and Dr. Ovy Orluideye Chinendum Chukwuma.
The screening is set to take place on Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hallowed Chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly, located in the Auditorium, Admin. Block, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
Nominees are required to bring twelve sets of their Curriculum Vitae (CV), along with the originals and photocopies of their credentials.
This process is a crucial step in the formation of the new executive council, which is expected to drive the administration’s agenda for development in Rivers State.
The Assembly’s prompt attention to the Governor’s nominees indicates a collaborative effort towards achieving the state’s developmental goals.
