Nigerian Actress Tonto Dikeh, Adesua Etomi and others have taken to social media to condemn the claim of Dowen’s College over the death of their student, Sylvester Oromoni Junior.
#justiceforsilvester is one of the trending conversation on popular microblogging platfrom follow the death of 12-year-old, Sylvester Junior, a student of Dowen College, Lekki.
According to reports obtained by Biztellers, revealed that Junior, who was beaten to death for allegedly refusing to succumb to peer pressure to join a cult by his fellow student was reported dead by his uncle, Perrie, on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, following a trending video that revealed his condition before his death.
Disagreeing with the school, Dowen’s College, on claims that the boy sustained a football injury, the father of 12-year-old boy, Sylvester Oromoni and celebrities have taken to Twitter to express their opinion.
According to the father 10, whose Sylvester is his last born, during an interview with cable, alleges his son was beaten, fed chemical by his fellow students.
The father said Junior suffered liver enlargement due to congealed blood. He said, before he could make a return trip to Warri towards facilitating Junior’s transfer to the teaching hospital, the boy drew his last breath.
It was also claimed that Junior was fed a liquid substance described as “a chemical” for refusing to join the group.
Reacting via his official Twitter handle, Comedian and activist, Mr Macaroni tweeted; “I deeply sympathize with the family of Sylvester Oromoni. I Just saw the video that was recorded before he died. He couldn’t move, mouth swollen, teeth bleeding.. Football injuries don’t cause that much pain!!! Dowen college, there are a lot of questions begging to be answered.”
Actress Tonto Dike tweeted; “Dear Dowen college I have been informed, I am coming. I am gathering facts about this story. Dont run, our kids can’t go to school to be learn and end up death. THAT’S NOT WHY WE TRUST SCHOOLS!!! #Justiceforsylveste.”
Adesua Etomi tweeted; “Quick question. Is Dowen college still not going to give Sylvester’s family a real explanation about what happened to their son? Face with symbols over mouth I don’t want to hear any football story. Do they really think this is going to go away? Somebody’s child. Broken heartBroken heartBroken heart #Justiceforsylveste.”
Actress Caroline Danjuma  on claims that the boy sustained a football injury, Caroline stated that her son plays Rugby and has sustained many bruises, but none of it looked like what happened to the 12-year-old.
She continued further, stating that the government should shut down the school till investigations are complete.
In her words;
“I am very much interested in the outcome of the situation at Dowen college.. what happened to that 12 years old boy. My son plays Rugby, he has bruised himself badly so many times”.
“My son never looked as bad as that boy looked before he died. The school should shut down till investigations rules them out. It is insensitive to act like nothing happened”.
“Why didn’t the hospital send him to ER with immediate attention.
How do you send a child to school and he comes back dead.
This country is so slow and uncaring

Gas Explosion in Katsina Filling Station Damages Six Vehicles

A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in significant damage to six vehicles, according to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command.

The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024.

He explained that a loud explosion alerted police operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the site, supported by military personnel.

“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” Sadiq-Aliyu stated. The joint team acted swiftly, deploying measures to protect lives and limit property damage. Their efforts successfully extinguished the fire.

The spokesperson added, “Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”

State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as investigations progress.

This incident highlights the need for heightened safety measures at gas filling stations to prevent such occurrences.
