Unknown Gunmen Attack, Kidnap 22 Persons in Abuja community
Following a raid by unidentified gunmen, at least 22 people have been abducted in a village in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Police officials in the FCT confirmed the assault on Friday, stating that it happened in Rafin Daji, a village that is on the border between Niger State and the FCT.
The village was targeted while farmers were tending their farms, according to the acting FCT police spokesman, Oduniyi Omotayo, who verified the incident as reported by Channel TV.
“The farmers were on their farmland working when gunmen outnumbered and kidnapped them,” the spokesperson wrote in a brief WhatsApp message.
Omotayo, however, provided few specifics about the attack and the victims of the kidnapping.

However, the police photographer said that a joint team of security professionals has been deployed to the area and is vigorously searching it for traces of the kidnappers in order to apprehend them and free the kidnapped people.
Fortunately, no lives were lost despite the gunmen’s occasional shooting, according to witnesses.
Witnesses said that the attackers stole 22 farmers and destroyed two tractors that belonged to the owner of a sizable farm nearby.
According to reports, the gunmen kidnapped 13 members of a family.
A relative of some of the victims, Engineer Ibrahim Barde said his immediate younger brothers and their families who were on their farms had barely finished their work when the gunmen attacked.
“They were 13 of them on the farm including seven children between the ages of 15 and 17, three women; one just got married last year and an aged woman, my brothers, and the tractor driver,” the distressed engineer explained.
He listed the names of some of his kidnapped relatives, including Farida Ayuba, Hauwa Ayuba, Husai Abdullahi, Mustapha Barde, Nasiru Barde, Abdulkarim Barde, Sanusi Barde, Usman Barde, Nura Barde, Abdullahi Barde, and Babawo Barde.
Engineer Barde claims that the shooters had spoken to his family but have not yet made any demands.
“They were asking us, how many of our families were abducted. We didn’t tell them because we suspected they trying to fish out a particular family. But they have not stated their demands yet,” he stressed.
When contacted for comment after the attack, Gurdi Ward district chief Alhaji Bala Mohammed also verified the occurrence but stated he had not yet received information regarding individuals who had been kidnapped.
Alhaji Bala bemoaned the fact that bandits who had been entering the FCT through Niger State were continually attacking his people.
He pleaded with the authorities to act swiftly to prevent a complete breakdown of the situation.
